Appt yesterday - x posted

I had a u/s, NST and OB appt yesterday at 31 weeks 6 days.

Baby A (Easton) is measuring 33 weeks and 4 lbs 9 oz. He is head down. His head is far into my pelvis right on top of my cervix. The u/s techs were having difficulty getting good measurements. They couldn't get my cervix measurement or his head measurement well.

Baby B (Ashton) is measuring 32 weeks 3 days and 4 lbs 6 ozs. He is breech. He is sitting on baby A's head. Baby B's head is up in my ribs.

They are side by side with A on my left and B on my right. This is the first time they have not been the same direction. They are both in their growth curves and slightly higher than average.

My usual u/s tech was training someone yesterday so it took forever to get measurements. They wanted this girl to practice on large size twins as they are not common at our hospital and they are difficult to get good readings. Unfortunatley it meant a long time on my back (which hurt and I couldn't breath) and no good pics. Usually my u/s tech tries to get some good face shots for me at the end but there wasn't much time. The usual tech did try to get some shots for me at the end for like a minute. She got a profile of baby A and about a quarter of baby a's face in 3D. I like it better when the u/s tech is focused on the patient instead of training someone else.

The NST went fine, both babies look great and I had no contractions this time.

OB appt was quick. They did not do a belly measurment so I have no idea how big I am. Even with medication I am still having problems with my fasting blood sugar numbers so they doubled the dose of medication I take at night. My regular dr was on vacation this week, so I look forward to her being back at my next appt on Monday.

I am just now starting to get the feeling these babies are coming and I need to start getting ready for them (feeling the need to nest). So I guess it is time to get moving.

I think it's awesome that you're growing those boys so big! That must relieve a little of the stress if they do come preterm. Good job, mama!

Just think, you've already got 9 lbs of baby in there! That's great that they are doing so well. TFS!

Full term is still 37 weeks - same as a singleton.

However, the average twin pregnancy delivers at 36 weeks versus 40 weeks for a singleton. The range where most people deliver twins is from 34 - 38 weeks.

34 weeks is only two weeks away, so I am starting to feel I need to be prepared in case they do come at 34 weeks. Obviously I am hoping to make it longer than that but it is a possiblity.

My hospital won't deliver unless they are at least 36 weeks. So if I go into labor from 34 - 36 weeks I will be sent to the university hospital 2 hours away.

I am very nervous about having two newborns and a toddler. I just don't know how I am going to do it. I sure I will figure it out and life will go on, but it is just hard to imagine. Physically I am ready to be done with this pregnancy. I wish the babies were as ready as I am.

woo hoo! You are doing awesome!! I hope you can make it to the time needed that you don't need to go to the hospital further away, but at least there is a good option kinda close by if you need it.
Sry the u/s didn't get you good pics. We had a trainee at an appt. a while ago, but they just talked her along all they were doing, didn't have her actually do it.
Keep hanging in there. you can do it!

Glad babies are doing well, but thats stinky you couldnt get good pics and you had that trainee in there. I always refuse to let them do training on me. I understand that they need to do it, but not on me they dont lol. It takes too long, and i get really frustrated.
