Asthma...couldn't breathe in my sleep :(

Hi again

I'm a little stressed out (more so than usual!)

With this growing belly, and everything being shoved up to my ribs, I've been struggling to sit, lie down or even breathe in certain positions. Now, I'm most comfortable on my left side but I had a dream last night where I was talking to an old lady and I was really struggling to take a breath - all I could think of in my sleep was "****, I need air in my lungs....now"...I suffered from asthma as a child and had irregular use on an inhaler as and when I needed it.

In my dream, I kept thinking of where I could find one desperately and I woke up gasping for air...said to DH who I awoke that I need an inhaler asap or have to talk to the doc for one if I can have one...

I'm seeing midwife tomorrow morning so will bring it up then but it will only get worse as my belly grows and my lungs are fighting for space...

Anyone else here with asthma or breathing issues???

Doesn't help that it's so hot here but I really thought I was about to stop breathing in my sleep and die Sad

I don't have asthma but I have had some breathing issues, feeling like I can't catch my breath. Doctor said this was normal but yes, it sucks big time.

Sorry - no breathing issues here but I do have difficulty breathing a lot now. I cannot lay flat on my back. I cannot lean over while sitting or I can't breathe. It is not a fun part of pregnancy. Many people end up sleeping in a recliner at the end of pregnancy due to problems breathing and hip issues from lying down.

With your breathing issues, I would definitely talk to your dr about it and see what he recommends.

Had my appt yesterday, midwife said it's pretty normal but she wrote me a prescription for an inhaler incase things get too bad...so will get one next week and keep it close by incase I really need it (not for when I'm out of breath when walking, that's happening too) but only when I really think my lungs need it badly...

I have asthma, but it is only exercise induced (and lord knows THATS not happening nowadays lol)

But i do have trouble in certain positions with my chest feeling tight, and short of breath with everything being all squished!
I usually do what you are and lay on my left side
Hope it gets better for you!!

Yeah, it's not comfortable...nowadays, I'm propped up like an ornament...feel very pregnant now!

Can imagine it would just get more uncomfortable...and then when she kicks, it all just seems worth it..

Almost in double digits!

I am the same way. I actually started snoring. So loudly that my daughter said she could hear me thru my closed door. So I started propping myself up at night. And congrats on almost being in the double digits.
