BFing the 2nd time around

Okay, so I know some of you mentioned this about BFing the 2nd time around. I have had 0 engorgement issues this time around!! I don't feel as full as I did with Alex but I know Max is getting enough milk. Seriously, every time he nurses, every 2-3 hours, he gets a diaper change, sometimes more frequently and every single diaper is a wet/poop diaper. We go in on Friday for a weight check so I'm anxious to see what he's at now. He was 8lbs 5oz at birth and on Friday he ws down to 7lbs 7oz.

I'm still not feeling a letdown but I am leaking a little. I felt letdown with DS but it ook about 2 weeks before I felt it.

Anyway, BFing is going great. He hasn't had formula from the SNS since Friday and even then it was only about 15 ml of formula.

That's awesome! I hope I don't get engorged this time around...I'm a stomach sleeper and I can't wait to get back to it. Smile

I am too. I'm not quite able to sleep on my stomach just yet because of my scar but I'm almost there!

Hopefully you won't have any issues either.

is he nursing long enough to get hind milk? The LC was telling me yesterday Ben could be pooping so much because he's getting mostly high carb milk (fore milk) instead of the hind milk... I apparently have an overabundant supply and was advised to feed only on one boob each feeding so Ben gets that hind milk and has less poop/gas. As for the let down, I didn't feel it for a couple of weeks, it started I think around week 2 and then WHAMM felt like my boob was in a pressure cooker for a few seconds...

Glad Max seems to be thriving! Smile

I nurse him till he stops on one side then burp him and if he's awake then I'll offer the other side. Usually he doesn't take the other side but occasionally he does. His poops are nice and mustard color, not green. Isn't green a sign of not enough hindmilk?

humm the LC didn't mention that... Ben's poops are all as yellow as the smilies colors :D! But no joke he'd poop every two hours and Im not talking quarter sized .... lack of green is reassuring !...

Sounds like he's doing great! I wasn't engorged with DD1 either and it was so nice. This time I was only engorged for about 3 days before things evened out.
Keep up the good work! Smile
