Bumblebees-vbac

I am going to try for a V-bac, and I am a candidate if my baby is less than 9lbs. They said my first C-section was mostly because I’m too small to deliver babies as big as I grow them. My son was 10lb 6oz, 22.5 inches and he was two weeks early. No gestational diabetes either! They say your second baby only gets bigger. So to appease my desire for a v-bac they are going to do an ultrasound at 36 weeks to determine the size and I’ll be able to decide then. I haven’t gained much weight, it was 2lbs+ total last time, so I do have some hope that maybe this baby will be smaller. I think at this point with my son last time, I was at least at +15lbs. I’m not afraid of pain, that’s temporary, but with my son he was in danger because he was stuck, I don’t want to repeat that… So I’m hoping for a littler one so I can try a v-bac, but if baby Ben is likely to be over 9lbs… I still would like to wait till Aug for the cesarean if I have a choice.

my second son was a whole 2 pounds lighter than my first and i carried him within 3 days of his brother's gestational age.
i worked with a doula and did what she suggested prior to his birth. stay active walk as much as possible.
after 35 weeks start decreasing the amount of protein you're eating, don't elimate just don't go nuts (decreasing the amount makes your body over tiem start thinking that its probably time to give birth).
after 35 weeks start using 1 evening primrose oil caplet internally
after 37 weeks start using 2 caplets and can use up to 3 ( i used 3 the night before i went into labor)
the primrose oil just helps make the cervix more favorable. it won't do anything your body isn't ready for.
i also believe that it helped with the membrane sweeps i started getting at 36 weeks.

i've got my fingers crossed for you that your 2nd follows the lighter weight pattern like my 2nd did.

hugs!!

I agree with PP about working with a doula. I've heard many woman have great success with a doula and are able to deal with the pain. The least amount of intervention is the best and most likely to succeed with a vbac.

Go girl!
