I'm clogged :(

What do I do to unclog my duct? Its my left one and it hurts! I tried pumping because Mikayla wouldn't stay on and was wondering if she was getting used to bottle nipples. So my hubs said I should pump and then we'll give her the bottle. In about 5 mins, I got 3mL from the right, and ZERO from the left. Does anybody have a remedy that's worked fairly quickly? Please help!!

Very warm compresses and massage. Sometime taking a hot shower and trying to massage the clogged area helps. Nurse/pump as much as possible on that side until it's clear. Good luck! That can be so painful and frustrating!

Nurse, nurse, nurse! That's the best thing you can do. If you can point her chin toward the clogged area that will help. Massage the area during and after nursing, use warm compresses, drink plenty of fluids, and be sure to call tge doc for a fever or flu-like symptoms (don't want it to turn into mastitis). Hope it goes away soon.

Yep, what the pp said. I've had some very painful clogs. Nothing has worked better for me than pointing baby's chin at the clog. I once had to lay DD on the bed and get on all fours over her and nurse that way. When you massage, make sure to only go in the direction of the nipple. Warm compresses and nurse, nurse, nurse. DD never liked to nurse when I was clogged because she couldn't get anything, but babies are more efficient than pumps, so keep trying. It will get better!

I took a warm shower
Massage for 20 min while in shower
Ice pack for 20
Pumped for 15 min... I think it helped cause I got a better milk flow

This. And a pump just isn't effective compared to your baby. So try to get her to nurse from that side as much as possible. She's still getting milk - one plugged duct won't stop that. Smile I hope you get rid of it quickly.

I hope you feel better soon. One thing I did was take a sock with rice and heat it up. I shoved that down my bra. And just like PP, nurse nurse nurse!
