Lady parts (possible TMI)

Okay, so Lily is 2 weeks old and we had a vaginal birth with no meds. I was told to rest for a week and all sorts of other stuff that essentially meant to rest. 3 days after her birth we were in the children's hospital for the next 9 days and that meant NO rest. I was on my feet almost all the time.

So, to my question...the past few days I have felt like my insides are falling out. I feel it at the vaginal opening and I have looked in the mirror and I surely don't know for sure what it looked like before but it even looks like things are coming out. Is this possible? I know I should call my Dr. but I feel like a freak and also since Lily is so challenging it is hard to get out of the house.

Thanks!!

It could either be that you vagina just looks weird because it's obviously still healing.
Or two, that is actually a serious condition where the uterus muscles aren't strong enought to hold things in anymore, and your uterus/vagina literally starts prodruding down and can fall out. I would DEF call your dr asap just in case.

It *is* possible, it's called a prolapse. I don't know much about it but I'd probably call your dr if you suspect it. I do know that it's fairly common after childbirth (just went on webmd and it said 30-40% of women will experience it in their lifetime), so I imagine it's no reason to panic.

my mom ended up with a hysterectomy because of prolapse after my lil sis, but that's mostly because the doc she saw for her issues told her it wasn't possible and it went undiagnosed for quite a while.

Please call your doc and ask to be looked at.

I would call too, the doc can tell you if its normal or not, and frankly, if you are like me, I'd rather know b/c otherwise I'd worry myself to death over it.

That said, around 3-4 weeks pp I had that feeling on and off for almost a week - it was uncomfortable but not painful and I contributed it to the D&C and all my complications. But I know others have posted about it too, so it can be "normal". I'd still get it checked, if its nothing then you can just take some tylenol if needed.

I've heard of a prolapse as well but I was under the impression it doesn't happen till later in life.

Definitely call the doctor and find out if this is normal. KUP!

I went to m/w and they checked & said that all is okay & it will go back. It is just lose muscles from the delivery & I need to do kegel exercises...10 reps x 3 times per day & there should be improvement within a month. Smile

I'm glad it's nothing that can't be fixed with exercise! Yahoo
