lovely varicose veins...

please tell me I'm not alone, am I the only one that looks like I have a huge night crawler under my skin on my legs? I have always had them, even since High School, and I'm not too over weight...but my dad has them BAD...and graced me with them. Well with pg they of course get worse, and today I noticed on the back of my calf a spot that was tender, swelled up and just funky looking? So I kinda panicked and instantly thought of a blood clot. I sat down and put my feet up and it has gone down a lot. I don't know if maybe the vein is just getting worse? If I call my dr they are gonna say they need to see me and ugh....I have SOOOO much going on right now. Maybe I'll just break out the support hose and stay off of my feet as much as I can. or should I call?

You mentioned that it went down a lot after you put your feet up. Maybe you should try that a bit more often. However if you are very concerned about it being a blood clot....you should call the doctor.

I agree...if you really feel freaked out..call the doc. Even if you dont want to! But it seems to me to be a yucky vein since it went down after resting your legs.

Hope it gets better dear!

I've got them BAD. Like you, they are hereditary for me. I've had them since I hit puberty. Mine get swollen and warm quite often when I've been standing or sitting in one place too long. However, if you are at all concerned, I would call your doc.
I bought a cream that seems to help with the tenderness. It's called Vari Gone. It's herbal, so I am somewhat wary of it, but mine were getting so painful (all day long-as soon as I got up they were hurting) that I had to do something.
Put your feet up whenever you are sitting, maybe grab some compression hose (I HATE them, but they do help), and try not to get too hot. Sorry you are dealing with them too Sad

thanks ladies I tried to take it easy, and am breaking out the lovely hose.... I would LOVE to have surgery to remove them soon. It really has gone down, just seems to get worse when I stand.
