This weekend we went to a friends cabin over in northeastern oregon to spend the weekend. We knew the weather would be a bit questionable but hoped for the best. The drive there was good, just hit some rain, then we got closer it was hail, then snow...and it was cold! It snowed pretty much the whole time we were there, finally was melting before we left. but we still had a good time, really relaxing. It way out a forest service road on I think 160 acres, no electricity (has a generator and solar power), no cell service, no tv. So it was a get away from everything kind of trip. We bundled up and went on walks, dd got to ride on a 4 wheeler with dh, which she loved. There was lots of wildlife of course so that was fun too, except all the deer and antelope we almost hit on the way home, those things are suicidal. We were going to come part way home last night and go to a museum on the way home this morning but decided to just come straight home, which is fine cause we have a lot to do here. The best part was what was waiting for me when I got home. I worked at the county for 5 years, I left last year to go to a private firm and decided a few months back that I wanted to pull the money I had in retirement out and put it in an IRA, cause the PERS systems is a bit questionable lately. I was worried though about pulling it after the last statement I get...anyways long story short I got a check for $6300 in the mail We will put that right into a Roth IRA account this week and just let it be. so that was a good way to end the weekend.
