Raspberry Tea VS Raspberry Leaf Tea

Are they the same thing...Raspberry tea and Raspberry Leaf Tea? My hubs got me Red Raspberry herbal tea...is that the one I want?? He got it while at the grocery store the other day, and when I looked online the only place I could find that had it was GNC.

:lurk:

They are different. Raspberry tea is from the berry. Raspberry Leaf tea is from the greens. It's the greens that you want.

Basically, if it tastes good, it's the wrong one. lol. I always liked honey in my RRL tea.

What Jordan said. Smile And you can buy capsules if you aren't into the grass-like taste of the tea. They aren't absorbed as effectively, but it's an option. I've been taking them the entire pregnancy.

nope it has to be the leaf tea. its made from teh leaves and not the fruit in order to get the benefits from it.

you can put a bag of the fruit tea though in with the bags for the leaf tea to change the flavor....so it won't go to waste.

oh and i think hot sucks. so i make it like i would iced tea (oh and you can add honey to it to sweeten it up some if you want).

Awww - thanks buddy!! I'm gonna look at GNC first...I don't want you to have to ship it and give up one of your boxes if they have it there. But - if they don't carry it there, I'm totally gonna take you up on that Smile

what they all said. but i think it tastes good, lol. also, if you make a concentrated batch during labor, it will make your labor less painful-- or so i hear! Smile

you can also get it off of Amazon.com. that's where i've ordered mine. i got 6 boxes.

turns out the birthing center where i've been going to "meet the doulas" classes sells it loose leaf and said to make it like you would coffee or in an icetea maker thingy.

You know, I mentioned to my doctor last night at my appt about getting some to just double check she didn't have any opposition. She said something along the lines of not recommending it, but wouldn't be opposed to it. She said she didn't know what the benefits of it were. She didn't seem overly impressed with it though. So, its really nice that your birthing center knows about it, and then actually offers it!

Becca - I might make some...but I'm an epidural girl so if all goes well (and follows my first labor) I won't be needing it! I might bring some in case of emergency though Smile

Mmmm, yummy. I love Red Raspberry Leaf tea. Our local Co-op and health food stores all carry it. I'd look there if your GNC doesn't have it. (And I'd imagine it'd be cheaper at one of those places?)

Oooo, maybe I'll try the Co-Op first then? Its actually closer and I'd be able to run over there easier than GNC. Plus, if it might be cheaper - I'm all for that Smile
