Sleep too much?

Can a baby sleep too much? The reason I ask is because Lizzie has slept more than she ever has.

She slept 6 hours last night, was up for an hour and then slept 3 hours and 25 minutes. She was then up for 3 hours and went back to sleep for 4 hours. Then she was awake for a little over 4 hours. And now she has been alseep for 2 hours and still going.

Should I be worried? My husband and parents don't think so. Others think I should be excited.

Wenesday we took her off of the Similac Sensitive and replaced it with Similac Spy Isomil. She seems to finally regulate herself Friday and was no longer screaming when making a BM and spitting up. (I guess I should have switched a while ago when the doctor suggested it and stopped the breast milk since it looks like we truly are dealing with a milk protein allergy). She also seems more responsive, much happier and making new noises.

I'm new at this and I'm used to the fussy, screaming, can't sleep baby. Am I making too much of this? Is or okay for her to sleep this much? Its only been since last night that she started this.*

2 nights ago Kendra slept a straight 7 1/2 hours!! was up for 2 hours and continue on her normal sleep patttern during the day, then slept for 4 hours last night, up 30 minutes, then asleep for another 5 hours!! So if something is wrong with Lizzie, then something is also wrong with Kendra. i am pretty sure they are both fine Smile

It's funny because you spend half your time wanting them to sleep and then when they do it's weird

They say normal for a newborn is 20 hours a day so I would not worry but it makes me wonder if we should try that food too. Smile

The sleep is normal...I'm surprised she can stay awake for 3-4 hours! My kids have never been able to stay awake for more than 2 hours until they were 3-4 months old.

I was surprised at awake for 3-4 hrs too! Def no more then two here too.

My dd1 used to sleep for 12-15 hrs and take a nap(s) for 3-5 hrs until she was 2! Just recently she does 12-14 at night and a two/3 hr nap everyday! She's a serious sleeper and a very easy going toddler so maybe you are in for my same goodluck Smile

Sleep is totally normal!!! Biggrin in fact its awesome you're getting it! LOL
Orion slept for 8 hours the other day, so I slept from 230 am to 1030 am (and Soren slept til 1030 too, 14 hrs for him lol)

Celebrate it, dont worry about it. You might not get a lot of nights like that for a while.

I am so jealous!! Max doesn't sleep for more than 4 hours at night and that is always the longest stretch. He's never gone for more than that.
