SWELLING!!!!!!!!!

ARGGGG... while things with baby Ben are great.. lots of sleep and all is well, I AM MORE swollen now then I was before Ben and that's saying allot! WHATS UP WITH THIS? GRRR I talked to my doc. before I was released and she said I couldn't take lasics(sp?) because it was bad medicine... well let me tell you somethin MRS DOCTOR I can't move! Its painful and i look GROOSSS. the pain of the swelling is worse than my incision area pain. OK rant over... But honestly has anyone heard of swelling more after a c-section?

I had swelling after a vaginal birth and was put on lasics and it helped a ton! I wasn't breastfeeding her though so that could be why... I forgot whether or not you are nursing Ben.

Sad I am nursing. So you pretty much swell no matter what type of delivery? SOO fed up with it.

You swell if you're hooked up to an IV. They pump you full of a ton of fluids. Totally normal to swell. Lasix can be pretty rough on your kidneys, I wouldn't want to take it when breastfeeding. Walking will probably help you the most.

I had a lot of swelling too. I'd say by a wk most was gone, although some remained for a bit. I had it from the IV fluids I had pumped into me for a few days before delivery. A ton of mine came out in night sweats and crazy peeing. I hope it goes away for you soon!!

Sorry you're dealing with it. Like Joy said, all that fluid they pump into you to counteract the blood loss during surgery tends to stay in your system for a while. Your body will slowly eliminate it, but walking is the best option right now to help. Hope it goes away quickly!

Oh yes! Mine sounds like it was just as horrible as yours. Walking does help. Mine took abOut 2 weeks to go away almost totally. Hang in there it does get better.
