Update on my pelvic pain (post 9)

I have an enlarged ovary on the same side as my pelvic bone pain. But that was closer to the hip joint and not anywhere near the pain I've been having, so it doesn't make sense for it to be causing my pain that feels more muscular-skeletal to me. The pain from an enlarged ovary wouldn't cause pain in the crack of your hip when you squat and rest your hand on your leg. An enlarged ovary wouldn't cause pain to your crotch like you've fallen onto the stabilizing bar of a man's bike. An enlarged ovary wouldn't make it so you can't ... well, we won't go there cause that's between me and DH.She's scheduled me for a pelvic u/s to examine further. She said that the pelvic u/s would look at more than just the ovary.. but correct me if I'm wrong, but it doesn't look at the bone structures of your hips and pelvis, does it?It's scheduled for 2/21.

:lurk: after my last baby I developed a very similar pain. It seems to be ligament related -- like when you are pregnant and your joints get all loose.

Did you by chance get an IUD after this baby?

no IUD. I started Mini-pill day after delivery, then 3 months ago started Depo after having obvious (for me) pregnancy symptoms and negative tests. We decided during the pregnancy that she is our last baby, so we are scheduling DH's big V. I'm supposed to get another Depo shot in the next 2 weeks. I wonder if that would have any affect on the "enlarged ovary". It was VERY tender when she palpated on it, and I can feel it myself (noticed it a long while ago). It doesn't really scare me, though cause I know it happens sometimes and it can go away on it's own (shrink). I understand the "need" to examine it more closely with the u/s, but I don't think it's related to the reason why I went in. It's a little frustrating cause I don't think she's addressing my specific concern. I hate not being able to see MY doc.

Camel~ when did your's go away? did it go away on it's own? did you have any physical therapy? My at home treatments aren't proving very effective and chiropractic care isn't helping much either... but it does help, just only for a few hours (sometimes less).

It started in Jan 2011 and got quite a bit worse before it got better. I tried to avoid body positions and activities that made it worse. It's about 85% better now. I did not do PT because my doctor didn't think anything was wrong.

I am so glad you got in and got it looked at. As far as the U/S goes, they can see bony structures, but probably not the type of anatomy that your problem requires. It really sounds to me like you've got either a separation of the pubic bones or osteitis pubis. Or, like CamelNoodle said, something going on with your ligaments. Hopefully they will keep investigating until they get to the cause of it. I'll keep you in my prayers!

Went in for my Depo shot today and the nurse that administered it is going to talk to my doctor's nurse to see if MY doctor can see me for my pelvic joint pain. She agreed with me that it doesn't make sense for it to be stemming from my "enlarged ovary". I'm still having the u/s to look at the enlarged ovary, but this pain is NOT that. Crossing my fingers they can squeeze me in soon, cause she's booked until the end of April.

So my appointment is in 2 days and I have't been having the pain in about 10 days. Figures. Of course, my lower back is killing me right now, though. Not sure if I should cancel or not. Lol
