well dang

So last night I started having random contractions and was very crampy at dinner. They weren't regular, but some were really not playing nice. I went home and laid down and I was able to sleep for the most part waking occasionally to a sharp one here and there.

This morning the crampiness was there right away and the more I moved around the contractions started again. I had my ob appt. at 9am so I dropped G off and headed over. As he measured my belly he said I was having a contraction and asked if I could feel it. I told him yes that I had been having them since yesterday evening. I had thought about going into LD but since they weren't regular I figured I would be ok til I saw him this morning. Then after he listened to her hb he felt another. Said he wanted to check me and send me over to LD himself to be admitted and monitored for awhile to see what was what. He did an exam and said his short fingers weren't reaching my posterior cervix (some of my other docs had this problem with G too). He said it was good that it was still posterior, however it didn't mean I wasn't dialating. He swabbed for the FFN test and commented on the amount of discharge I had and had I noticed. I told him I had complained the last two times I saw him and he always told me it was normal...he goes 'hmm, well I'm not so sure now, I think you have a bacterial infection so I'm going to swab for that too and put you on some antibiotics.' I TOLD YOU BUDDY!! I also told him I couldn't DTD bc it was really uncomfy down there.

So off I went to LD for 4 hours of monitoring. Basically contractions were there but still irregular anywhere from right on top of each other to 2 min to 8 min apart. I was fully hydrated they said. After all that time they let me go on restricted activity and pelvic rest with instructions that if they got any regularity to them to come right back in and to take the antibiotic he prescribed. They said my FFN came back negative so that was good because if it came back positive I would have been put on full out bedrest which I have zero idea what I would have done.

I feel like poo a bit, still very crampy and really tired. Good news is that my GD test came back fine although the bloodwork showed I'm anemic so I've been given an iron supplement.

This is like deja vu' from DD!

What an ordeal! It is no surprise that doctors become a little jaded and do not listen as well as they should. I will strongly pursue a midwife with my next child; I hear it makes a big difference. The practice I’m in now has 4 different doctors and sometimes 4 different opinions! GRRR…. The good news is the GD test is fine and no Group b. I hope your contractions slow down! I ALSO hope your doctor takes you seriously next time!

Dr. Always want to blame every symptoms your having on the pregnancy . I hate when they do that. Like they Just know every thing.

But over all Glad your Contractions Stopped and GD was fine.

Oy! I do agree with the other ladies - I feel like the doctors really don't listen 100%...I think they just assume we're exaggerating or something. Hopefully the crampy-ness passes soon. Get some rest...hopefully everything will be all set tomorrow.

:lurk:

Did he check for GBS? or did he just do the Fetal Fibronectin test? A negative FFN is much more reliable than a positive one. If it's positive, then you may or may not deliver in the next 2 weeks... if it's negative then you most likely will make it another two weeks. That's what my doc told me with my last pregnancy. Hope the contractions and cramping go away for you and that it's just an infection causing them. :bigarmhug:

Just the ffn NOT gbs and it was negative. I had a feeling I wouldnt be delivering because they weren't regular. I had contemplated going in the night before but decided against it bc they were all over the place. I'm still having some this morning and just feel like crap overall but hopefully it will go away soon.

I realized last night I've had this infection very likely for almost 2 months now!

I had contractions for several hours last night.. they were coming anywhere from 5-10 minutes apart, not painful.. but they had a "pushing" feeling to them, so I drank a ton and laid down. Then they started hurting. If I was standing they didn't hurt, but laying on my side they were hurting but didn't have the pushing feeling. I didn't feel like calling my doc or anything cause I had one or two of these episodes with my last pregnancy and he went overdue and induced after all the bed rest and such. So far I've only had one or two since getting up this am.

I totally hear you on not being worry about delivering just yet. :bigarmhug:

I didn't have early contrax with DD so with this preg it is all new. I can't believe how often you can have contrax and not be in labor - or for how long those contrax can go on. I feel for you. It is uncomfortable and you are always on edge wondering what if.

I am glad you finally got some medicine for your infection. Dr's should listen more.
