mother to three term and kinda one premie

So my first two pregnancies I held out till 38w + d but got pre e both times. First. Baby was 6lbs 1oz second was 6lbs 13oz. Third baby I let come as soon. As I hit 5 cm. She was a little over 37w and was 7lb 3oz my last pregnancy I did the same thing one I hit 5cm I let him be born he is one day premature. He weighed 7lbs 13oz. None of my babies had problems, they could breath and suckled fine. I'm underweight so I gained 40-60lbs depending on pregnancy. My labor always starts around 18-21 w. I start dilatation and effacing and Contracting. Nothing too serious I obviously have been hitting 5 cm sooner and sooner. My question is has anything like this happened to any of you. I'm guessing this baby will come at 35-36 w have any of you had a large healthy premie. Or should I post elsewhere

Many people have premature babies and then go on to have healthy full term babies. Talk to your doctor if you have a worries or questions about pre-term labor. Welcome and congrats on your pregnancy!

As the thread stated my pregnancies keep getting shorter. I've never went to term so I can say without a doubt I will never go to term. I have a high risk ob but talking to her isn't going to make this baby come slower. My question was have any of you had a perfectly healthy Preemie. Thanks

All three of my girls are preemies. DD1 was born at 34 weeks. She did not need to go to the NICU. She did have a few issues with needing to learn to eat. She weighed 4lbs 9oz. She also was more vulnerable to illness. DD2 was born at 35 weeks. She also did not need to go to the NICU. She did struggle to keep her temp up and had jaundice. She weighed 6lbs 14oz. DD3 was born at 32 weeks. She spent 2 1/2 weeks in the NICU and had normal preemie issues. She weighed 3lbs 15oz.

Many babies born between 35-37 weeks have minor problems but not all babies do. Every baby is different.

But you did go to term - full term is anything more than 37 weeks. Very few babies actually make it all the way to 40+ weeks since your due date really is just an estimation. The fact that you show signs of premature labor so early is a good reason to have a high risk dr - while that dr ultimately can't stop the baby from coming, he/she can monitor you and take steps to TRY to slow things down if necessary.

I had DS at just shy of 29 weeks. When I was pregnant with DD, my dr told me that they would not try to stop labor after 35 weeks. She was born just shy of 37 weeks at 6 pounds, 2 ounces and was just perfectly healthy.

As the Bonita stated, every baby is different - there are babies born at 35-36 weeks that require a short NICU stay...and there are plenty that go home with no issues right away.
