Quick question. At what age is a preemie no longer in danger of RSV? Caitlyn is 2 1/2 and was born at 32w. She has a cold, but is really raspy with her breathing. I had previously though she would be fine after she turned 2? We are giving her breathing treatments at home that seem to be helping.
I could not find anything about risk for preemies past the first two years, but if she has asthma or lung problems, RSV can be a threat. It sounds like you are doing the right thing with the breathing treatments. I hope she gets wells soon.
We have had a cold running through our house. I don't think it is RSV, but you never know. When I looked at the CDC website, it showed a spike in RSV infection in Indiana during the week of 1/28. We all got sick within the last two weeks, so if it was high, it might be that we all have it. It was my biggest fear with all of my kids when they were babies . All of our kids were born during peak RSV season. Thankfully, we have no lung symptoms and we are all through the worst of it. Sarafina has been the worst out of everyone. She was my 4 lb, 5 oz IUGR baby. So, she is very petite and she always struggles with colds and such. :(
She ended up having a bad ear infection and a sinus infection. Her oxygen was down to 93% as well. All is well now though :-)

did u get cinergest (sp?) shots after she turned a year old? If so, what was the conditions for getting them.
We had 5-6 round for this season. The nurse couldn't remember the conditions if preemies were to get after 1st bday
We did not. She had them as a new born, but not as an older child.
Preemies can get them after age 1, but there have to be major risk factors (heart/lung disorder).Quote:
