He's got a lot of work ahead of him but he is doing good. Everytime I have talked to the NICU they have said his stats were stable. we are going to visit him today.

I'm glad to hear he is stable. When they took out your cerclage did they know you'd go into labour? Did they want you too because of the bleeding?

Anyway, I hope he just needs to finish growing and his stay is uneventful.

They told me most women go into labor after the cerclage comes out. They said it can be right away or a few days. Some women don't though.

They took it out because my placenta was abrupting.

I just read your updates on your blog. What an amazing journey. Do you live far from the hospital he is at? Do you have lots of help with your other son? Thinking of you.

I also read your blog and it sounds like quite the experience. I hope you aren't too far from the hospital and you have help with your other son.

My thoughts are with you.

Nicky!!!!!!! (((((((((HUGS)))))))))) I missed that you had delivered! I will continue to be thinking and praying for Samuel --- and YOU. I am glad to hear that he is stable. I know you have a long journey ahead. Please let us know how we can support you through.

I know that your full focus is on him (naturally), but please remember to take care of yourself too!

It was very out of the blue and sudden.

Will do.Everyone here has been really supportive and reminds me why I have always liked this site.

I do need to remember that and my husband helps to remind me to slow down, etc.

I'd been wondering if it was easier or harder this time since you already knew the NICU routine. Your blog pretty much summed up what I thought.

How much time do you get off work? is it possible to get any time off when Samuel comes home?

It sounds like he is doing really good Smile

:bigarmhug: Wow! So much for you to go through. I can not imagine such a long NICU stay. Yay for moving to a different nursery. I remember when my youngest was in the NICU they were set up into pods. 3 was for the really young babies. 2 was intermediate, and 1 was for babies that were just about ready to go home. We started off in 2, then moved to 1 after a few days.

Looks like he maybe moving closer to home in a few days. The NICU just called a few hours ago and said they want to see how he handles full feeds (30 ml) and if he does well they are going to take out his pic line and then work on moving him to the NICU closer to home where Sebastian my older son was.

It will be great having him close but it's a little overwhelming considering yesterday I was told it wouldn't be considered for a few weeks to a month.

I only get 7 weeks off. I was only thinking I would get 6 as that is what I got with sebastian but looks like the Doc is giving me an additional week.

I can take time without pay which is pretty much out of the question for me being my job is the only income we have. Thankfully I guess I do work from home on Mondays so I can be home then. I am going to ask about maybe working a few weeks from home when he gets home. It was nixed when Sebastian came home but I am hoping maybe my boss will have a change of heart.

If they are anything like the nurses in my NICU, they don't want to say anything hopeful until they believe it can happen that week. I remember trying to get out of them when I could expect to go home and all they would say was likely by the due date. I tried to get them to say what they thought based on how DD2 was doing but that was what they said until the Wednesday when they said she would probably go home Friday. She came home Saturday because they detected heart beat irregularities on the Thursday and thought it would be easier to do all the heart scans as an inpatient than as an out patient. Even though I totally understand and agree with them, when I went to get her on the Friday and they told me she was staying until Saturday, I burst into tears. At that point I realized that giving specific dates in the immediate future creates a whole new level of hope and expectation.

They wouldn't move him if they didn't think he could take it Smile

Just edited to add that I'm glad they took you seriously and the transfer is likely happening next week.

I agree. It was maddening to no end that they would not tell us when they thought Caitlyn would get out of the NICU. We did finely get someone to tell us the best case scenario was 1 week. Of course we thought she would be that magical best case. She did very well, but it was DEVASTATING when after a few days they had to give her a feeding tube and that it was 2 1/2 weeks before she had gotten out. If we had understood in the begining that it was going to be a long time (Long to us, nothing like what you are going though), we would have been more prepared.

:bigarmhug: I wish there was some way for you not to have to go back to work so soon! How is your little peanut doing? It must be so difficult to have him in the NICU so long.

Me too. The one down fall of one a income home at the moment is mom must go back to work:(

He is doing pretty good. His PDA is open again, or still I guess I should say. They just did a follow up echo a few days ago to see how it was doing. they will follow up in a week or two again. He passed his eye exam which was good. Otherwise just still struggling with the O2again. I just posted a cute picture of him on the blog.

I know this board is slow. I pop in and check on things from time to time though and wanted to let you know I have been following your NICU journey. I pray he continues to grow and develop well and especially that the PDA completely resolves soon. :bighug:
