    Default Birth control

So has come the time for me to start thinking about birth control (If i take care of it maybe DH won't get the big V and I might get another baby out of him). Any suggestions as to what form I should go with?. I have cousins that got pregnant on both the Mini pill and IUD so I'm a little scared of them. . I am still bfing and want to continue to for a while. I am thinking the mini pill is the best decision.

What kind of BC has everyone else done?

Uh ... taking care of twins takes care of that risk entirely, but I'm getting a copper IUD next week.

I am the odd one, I think. We use condoms and that is it. I refuse to subject myself to hormonal forms of bc, the non-hormone IUD scares me, and I refuse to do anything else to my body after having two pregnancies and 2 c-sections. If DH wants to get the big V, he can go ahead and get it done. We are very, very careful though. We do not want any more children at all. Although, my previous infertility history makes pregancy a pretty low probability. We don't take risks though. You never know when your body will decide to start working properly again.

For the first year or so, our main form of birth control was the twins.

And then DH got a vasectomy last week.

Lol it really is for me but because DH isn't the one getting up at night with them so he isn't scared off as easily. I think for the time being the minipill is our best option and then when we are completely sure we are done, DH will get the big v. Thanks for the advice ladies. I don't know much about seeing as I went off the when I was 22 and we used the pull out method from there on in (probably how we ended up with two surprises, well 3 surprises I guess!$

I was always nervous about taking bc while bf, so we have always used condoms until I am done nursing. And like Mel, we are very very careful, use one every.single.time. My periods have been whack for about a year, and I really need to bc to regulate me, so now that I am done nursing, I have my gyn appt in about 6wks. I love the Nuvaring. I know some docs say it is safe while bf, because it is a lower dose hormone, because it is directly in your cervix instead of having to go through your blood stream. I like it because I don't have to remember a pill every day. My doc said plenty of women use it while nursing, but no real studies have been done. I got the impression he prefers not to use it while bf, and I didn't want to anyhow, but now that we're done with the bf, back to the nuvaring.

I don't want to scare anyone, but be VERY very careful with IUD's. My aunt's IUD went septic and the ensuing infection is what killed her. If you have an IUD and notice ANY type of flu-like symptoms or anything, go to the hospital immediately. The reason she didn't make it was because she just thought she had a flu and didn't get help. This is rare, but please be careful!

All that aside, I'm the same as Mel. We use condoms, on the rare occasion we actually do have sex. heh And I agree that the twins are the best form of birth control. Robb wants to get a vasectomy, but we probably won't be able to afford it for a while. I don't like taking BC so condoms it is. We are super careful as well. I don't know what I'd do if I got pregnant again. I DO NOT want any more kids!
