Your Name: Tracey
Your Childrens Names and ages: Bren, 20; Kai 18, Hai, 17 J-Girl 3, Kiri n Tae 2
How early did you deliver?: @ 35 wks 1 day
Best part of having Multiples? Double the pleasure and tenfold the fun, specially with J-Girl added to the mix.
Worst part of having Multiples? Double/triple the trouble (oh and lack of sleep in the first year)
Any advice? Go by your own instinct as you'll know what's best for you and your kids. Advice is usually good, but it doesn't mean it will work for your family. Oh, and take lots of pictures and short video clips. Time really does fly. I keep forgetting to take video clips and missing all the funny things they're now saying and doing!
DD Twins: 8/4/09 @ 35 Wks - No NICU, woot!
Your Name: Melissa
Your Childrens Names and ages: Gabriella and Isabella ( 8 ), Deborah (7)
How early did you deliver?: 39 weeks
Best part of having Multiples? Seeing them become such different people as they grow!
Worst part of having Multiples? The constant FIGHTING. *sigh* My twins and singleton are so close in age that it's like having triplets, and everything is a competition or a knock-down, drag-out fight.
Any advice? Hang in there. The older they get, the easier it gets. And surround yourself with other parents of multiples - join a MOM's group. And never thing you've got the hang of it - life changes constantly in ways you can never imagine!
Oh, and welcome back! Good luck TTC!
DD Twins: 8/4/09 @ 35 Wks - No NICU, woot!
And thanks! I think I'm going to need all the luck I can get!
Your Name: Starr
Your Childrens Names and ages: Atom and Zero, 2 1/2
How early did you deliver?: 36w3d
Best part of having Multiples? Built in friend....twice the love to get and give...dont have to stress too much if i cant get pregnant again because I have two, at least!
Worst part of having Multiples? Doubse the expenses, double laundry, and ohhh the tantrums! Also, I want another chance at a pregnancy, but DH wont budge because we have 2 kids already. I feel like my pregnancy was spent being so scared, and being forced to deliver in the OR, I didnt get the experience I hoped for.
Any advice? Make a schedule from day one! Keep a diary to log your day to day life, because you wont really remember the first year. Cloth diaper if youre on a budget! Make your own baby food...take as long as you can for maternity leave. I took only 6 weeks and will never forgive myself.
Your Name: Kim
Your Childrens Names and ages: Addison and Paige almost 4 in 2 weeks, Hayley is 2, and I'm 10 weeks pregnant with #4.
How early did you deliver?: The twins were a scheduled C-section at 38 weeks
Best part of having Multiples? They always have someone to play with, and fight with.
Worst part of having Multiples? The attention from strangers including all the questions and comments. Its really really crazy and hard sometimes, I wouldn't wish multiples on my worse enemy.
Any advice? Just go with the flow, count to 10 before you react, the phase your in is the easiest one.... it just gets harder, and pick your battles. Multiples are going to get into more trouble then anyone can imagine, and you just have to find the humor in it instead of getting upset or else we all would be gray by the time they are 3 years old! Last Have fun, its alot of work but also they can be so funny and cute, so it just makes up for all the work.
Your Name: Leah
Your Childrens Names and ages: Isaac and Gabriel, just turned 2
How early did you deliver?: 30 weeks 3 days (and I did a 'double' delivery, baby a vaginal and baby b stat c section. It happens!)
Best part of having Multiples? Definitely the built in friend. Double the lovins!
Worst part of having Multiples? Double the tantrums. Especially at the toddler stage, one not realizing that the other needs me, and vice versa. All the attention in public. When you are having a 'bad mom' day, the attention is nice sometimes, but most times it just makes running errands extra long.
Any advice? Like the others said, find a schedule that works for you. Listen to what the babies are telling you, and listen to your own instinct. I can't even count the number of times that I have known something is wrong or not working, and others didn't believe me, and I turned out to be right. You know your babies best! Also, don't beat yourself up. Sometimes with 2, you have to do things that you never thought you would, such as putting on the TV to calm them down or get a moment's peace. Life with multiples is crazy, just go with it!
