Jennie brought up the cost of diapers in another thread and it got me wondering...when the heck do the diapers slow down? My guys are still atleast 12-16 diapers a day. Here, I pay 50$ for a box of pampers swaddlers with 174 diapers and it only last approximately 2 weeks. I came home today at 4 and I changed 6 diapers between then and their bed time at 7. They are pooping machines!
Does it get better, or do I have to just pray for quick potty trainers?
We go through a box of 60 pull ups in one week. If we buy a box of 80, we can last a few days longer. And now my girls are different sizes, so I have to decide if we put S in the bigger size or buy different sizes. We will end up spending the same amount of money, I think.
I kept praying that my girls would be in underwear by now. Keira was getting close and then just stopped using the potty. I am not pushing the issue, so here we are...almost 3 and still in diapers. Boo! :( My goal is to find a weekend that we are not overly busy and just put K in underwear and see what she does. She needs to do it. She is ready. I always thought girls were supposed to be "easier" to train. No way! Isaiah was completely day trained at 2 years, 4 months. My girls are 2 years, 9 months and S seems clueless about the potty. She doesn't even want to sit on it anymore, not even for M&Ms. And let me tell you, I think potty training twins is hard. K doesn't want to sit on the potty because S doesn't. S wants M&Ms because K got one for going to the potty, but won't try the potty. Seriously!!!!! And....having an older child does not help. I feel like we run and run sometimes. How do you potty train when you are never home? OMG!
Ugh, yeah, I was just thinking about this today. Apart from the mastitis and bloody nipples, potty training seems a little similar to breastfeeding in that I can't imagine how I'll ever be able to get out of the house. A friend recently told me (oh wait, I should mention that this is a friend with a dog who obviously pees and poops outside as dogs do) that she's so grossed out by parents who bring potties in the car and she doesn't want to see their kid pee in a parking lot. But yeah, I mean, I figure there will be lots of "emergency" peeing everywhere we go.
Well...at this is partly why my girls are not yet trained. Until they are good at going potty and keeping their pull ups dry, I don't even want to attempt going places in underwear. I mean, how many changes of clothes can I pack? We tried it this summer (once!) and Keira went through 4 outfits. Seriously! I don't have enough clothing to do that or time to wash. The whole thing just overwhelms me. I know I need to buckle down and really make the girls do it, but I dread it. We do so many things differently than we did with our singleton. My girls still have a pacifier (at bedtime only), they are not potty trained, and we probably do not do enough with them to push developmental milestones. I feel guilty a lot! That part sucks so much! :(
