    Default Disney World (XP)

I am totally crazy. I have been playing around and pricing a trip for next summer or fall. What am I thinking? Taking my twinkles at 2.5 to Disney? I actually want to get there again before my DS gets too old. Not that you are ever too old for Disney, but there comes a point where they don't want to go on vacation with you, etc. Plus, he still loves the magic of Disney right now, even though he has realized that there were people dressed up as characters when he went at ages 4 and 5. So, I think we are going to have to suck it up and take the twinkles at an earlier age than we planned. Although, I am wondering if we will have to forget about character dining while we are there. Sarafina is crazy in restaurants right now. She sobs and cries like she is afraid.

The good thing is that they are building a value resort of family suites. With a family of 5, we can no longer stay in the affordable resorts. We have limited options at the cheaper resorts. Otherwise, we are stuck with deluxe or villas. Yes, yes, I know we can stay off resort for cheaper. We may do that someday, but we love the convenience of a Disney resort.

So, for now, I am just in the dreaming stage. We will have to wait and see what our finances hold and if we want to take the plunge. The bad thing will be that we will be driving down this time. We are definitely not paying for airfare...well...unless gas prices keep going up.

Ha! We have been contemplating DisneyLand as well. My kids have never been, and I would like to go while the babies are free. But I don't think we will go without help, or it would not be any fun for the older kids. So we are trying to coordinate with dh's mom and stepdad, they are the ones that can afford it and will help as well. I would rather just have our little family go, but realize we need that extra help so dh and I can ride some rides as well, ya know?

and yes, we would probably drive as well, 13hrs, same as AZ. We'll see when we can fit it in the budget, but since our kids are getting older, I want them to go now as well, dd is 9 in a few weeks, and ds is 6.5. Maybe in January when they are off track from school, we'll see. But we still have plenty of baby bills.. so who knows.

Let me know what you decide. I think we are going to rent a condo type thing with the inlaws.

I nursed my twins for 2years and 2 weeks! A little sad to be all done now.

Yes, help would probably make the trip much more fun. Just remember you can ride swap since you have the babies. Essentially, you all go through the queue to the ride. You or DH get on with one or both of your older kiddos, then when they get back, you swap the twins, and the other set rides. It is one of the family friendly features of Disney. They know that not all families have kids that can ride some of the rides, so they set it up so you don't have to send part of the family through the queue and then the rest through the queue. Too time consuming and not fun for anyone really. FastPASS is the other awesome Disney idea.

I will definitely let you know if we go. I did just find out that as long as the girls are under 3, they don't count in our overall number for the resorts. So, we have one year to essentially stay wherever we want at Disney. We shall see.

Oooh, I did not know about ride swapping. Good to know! FastPASS is a good thing too. And nice that they don't count in resort numbers yet, go before they are three for sure!

We took our two when they were 2.5 and we had a blast! Everyone kept telling us they were too young and it would be a waste of money but they loved it! They still talk about the trip all the time. It was great because under 3 they are free so we saved a ton of money. We brought two single strollers and they did awesome.

We're going back again this May (they'll be 5 1/2 then) and I can't wait. But it kind of stinks now that they have to pay for everything lol!!

Oooh, I am jealous of your May trip! The cost kind of stinks since they are older, but just think of the rides and things you can do now. They are more independent, have more stamina, can handle longer waits (within reason of course). When we went with my DS, we did early morning (getting FastPasses as necessary for highly attended rides), napped after lunch, then we went back to a park in the evening. Even at 5 1/2, DS needed that nap/rest time every day. The parks are just too stimulating.

As for the stroller, I think we will have to take a double. Since we have DS, if we need to split up at all, the other parent could not push two single strollers. That part stinks. I love the idea of single strollers. Much easier and not as bulky.

There was a Best Western or Super 8 motel we stayed at like a few miles from Disney World that was only $35 a night that our entire family stayed at that was pretty good. I believe it was in Kissimee (Kissimee and I'll kissayou back!). I agree with using the fast pass. We went when I was expecting Journi and had the older kids who where 13-17 at the time along with my sister's side and our parents. We had a blast, even driving down with three teens! The planning is almost as much fun as the actual trip, I'm envious! But you'll definitely save more money getting the 5-7 day passes than the 1-4 day passes - at least it was at that time.
