Yeah, sometimes you just have to let off steam somehow and for Abram it is biting. Just because he is good at expressing himself doesn't mean he has the means to tell you or Wyatt that he is upset. Keira is better with language than Sarafina..and can even tell me she is mad, yet when she gets really angry, she sits on the floor and screams at the top of her lungs over and over and over and over again! It drives me mad. She throws things, she smacks whatever is in front of her (milk, plate, bowl, cup, toy, etc.). She just has a temper and we are working hard on learning to calm down. Deep breathing, counting, etc. Most of the time, I ignore the extreme tantrum because she is too far gone for me to rationalize with her. If I catch her before she gets mad, I can usually distract her or get her to breathe for me. It is so hard. This age is rough! I tell you...age 5 and rational thought...that is my goal for surviving twins.

You just made me the happiest person, knowing it will get better. 4 and half yrs from now, but still, it gives me something to look forward to!

That is how I felt I when my DS turned 5. It was just a great age. I loved ages 3 and 4 too, but age 5 was the best. Independent, follows directions, can be reasoned with...it was awesome. I never thought that age 8 would be hard, but I think it is harder than the toddler years. We are dealing with anxiety about school performance and friends...he talks back and fights us sometimes. It royally sucks. There are days that I am at a loss about what to do with him.

Krista- It is bad, but I have been counting down to 5 since the girls were infants. I think there are several of my posts in their early infant stage that had some form of comment about the girls turning 5. HA!

Rachel, we have Poko dvds (it is a Canadian show so don't know if you can get them), they teach young kids how to express emotions such as anger. The only problem is that Robbie at almost 7 is still using the stomping (and poem) that they use. Robbie has out grown them and so if you want I can pop them into the mail for you. Just FB me your address.
