    Default Independence, here we come!

Keira has started wanting to do a lot of things by herself. Gotta love her! She is determined to pull up her pants by herself. Little does she know that I give them a little boost from behind! She also has learned how to open doors. Yikes! This morning, she was completely beside hrself when she did not get to open the door. So, I took Sarafina to the car and DH let her close the door and open it again. Holy Moly, here comes the, "No, I do it!" age. I am not sure I am ready.

Now, I am waiting for the, "I will pick out my own clothes and shoes" stage. I am praying that we can wait on that until age 3, but I am not holding my breath. My DS was really easy going with all of that stuff. He just wasn't too demanding about being independent (which can be a negative in some ways), so all of this will be new to me. We will also see if Sarafina is like Isaiah or if she starts being more independent because Keira is doing it.

Its so funny, when they are young you are wishing they were a little more independent so you can have some time to yourself and then as soon as they become independent you wish they would go back to the days where they didn't fight everything you say and just did what you asked. Its a fight every school morning here becasue DD1 wants to wear a dress everyday but its too cold out already here to be wearing dresses.

Atom and Zero?? Are those their real names? I LOVE them. Absolutely! (I ask if they're real because some people make up fake ones for the internet.)

Mel - I am totally there too. Of course, with Spark, not Silas. Spark wants to mostly dress herself. She'll come up to me with her shoes or some pants and it's like she wants help, but when I try to help her she gets SO frustrated. She wants to do it herself but she wants help at the same time. Do yours do this?

Thankfully neither of them can open doors yet, but of course, Spark wants to, and tries, and I KNOW it's coming soon. For a few months she's been taking keys and putting them up next to the door handle to try to open it lol

Oh, I am waiting for Keira to be even more that way. She is Miss Independent for sure. Sarafina loves cuddles and for people to hold her, so I think she will be more open to mama snuggles. I hope so anyway!

Kim- Yep, they do that too. They attempt to put on their shoes or pants, bring it to me, then get mad if I try to help them. Keira smacked me with her shoe this morning because I wasn't fast enough with helping her. It wasn't an aggressive smack. More of a floundering and throwing her hands around out of frustration, but the shoes were in her hands, so she accidentally hit me. Good glory!

As for the doors, we have the lever handles. What we were thinking when we bought those, I have no clue. However, it is what we have to work with. I need to get to the store tomorrow and get some level door handle locks. I didn't find any at Walmart or Meijer last week. Target sells a 2-pack for $12!!!! Ummm...I saw them online for $4. So, I am stopping at Lowe's on my way home from work tomorrow and praying they have some for less than $12. Our biggest issue is that one of our babyproofed safe havens is our kitchen. Well, it isn't safe anymore because Keira can open the door to the garage. Sigh!

We are entering this phase too. Abram's fave new words are "Me" and "mine" and mine is uttered anytime you try to help him with anything. When we do our bedtime routine he has to be the one to shut the bedroom door, if anyone else does (Wyatt, dh, me) then there is a total meltdown, so now I just let Wyatt do it, reopen it and let Abram do it. He has to open and close lids by himself, etc. It gets frustrating. Clothes wise, they are boys, so I am hoping we will have less of a struggle, but I have noticed them looking at their brother when I dress them, to see what the other is wearing and comparing, I think they may want to be matching more, but not verbal enough to tell me. lol.

Shhhh!!! I am praying that because I have always dressed them different, that they will not even think about wanting to match until they are over 3!! I don't know why, but I don't really want them to match ever. HA! Of course, I won't stop them if they want to do it. I am sure we will go through phases where they want everything alike and other phases where they want to be different. Life is going to be interesting.

Ha! I have thought of you a few times when they seem like they want to match. lol. And who knows, maybe they will never want to. I recently got some clothes from tcp online and bought matching shorts for all 3 boys, and I was surprised how excited Tucker was to match the little boys. lol.
