I have not heard of this. Does she has any other problems? One of my babes had serious torticolis (basically tightened neck muscles on one side), and even then we did not need an xray, just physical therapy. When is she supposed to have it done? I would ask more of why she needs it, jmo.

I nursed my twins for 2years and 2 weeks!A little sad to be all done now.
Ok clearly I know NOTHING about this but some parents in the multiples club I joined were talking about x-rays for hip dysplasia in breech babies. I always thought that was a dog issue so ... yeah, I don't know what I'm talking about. Oh and it's completely routine at some hospitals and also in Europe. Or something like that.
ah, that makes sense... interesting.

I guess it depends on the breech position? Both my DS and Keira were breech and no one asked for an xray. However, if there are signs of hip dysplasia, that would be an excellent reason to do one. Our ped always does a routine hip check at every wellness visit. He still checks my DS, who is almost 8.
Hip dsyplasia runs on DH's side of the family, the latest with my niece who needed casts until she was two and still yet needing monitoring. No fun. But even with this knowledge and with one of the twins being breech, they still didn't do xrays at birth to check any of my youngest kids. Should they have? Now I'm curious if there's other ways they're checking it. I know that they rotate the hip joints at every check up and I thought this was how they were checking, but maybe this isn't the best method?

Both of my boys had ultrasounds done on their hips when they were just a few weeks old. My pedi wanted to do it as a precaution since they were both breech for a little while (although they were both head down for the last several weeks). He said that it's usually an easy fix with putting them in a brace if they do have some hip displaysia, but that it's a really painful surgery if they don't discover it early on. He also said that multiples are more likely to have hip issues because of the cramped quarters in the womb. I'm assuming that's what is going on in your case? Thankfully, my boys were both fine and I hope your littles are, too!
I was wrong, it was an u/s but yes it was for her hips. I guess its routine if the baby was breech then they have the u/s I don't know if its just my hospital or Canada wide thing). It was on fri. ( I had to reschedule) but everthing looks ok.
Glad all is well.![]()
