We had a post a while back about twins calling each other by one name. I don't want to search for that post, so I created a new one. My question is: How long did it last?
Both of my girls are "Nina." Technically, they are trying to say "Fina." However, they cannot say they /f/ sound, so it comes out like /n/. It confuses other people, but we understand what they mean. That is all that really matters. We just make sure to specify that the one "Nina" is really "Keira" and hope that they will get it in a few months. Sarafina used to call K, "Kee-ka." That stopped once K started using "Nina." Then, they both became the one name. They even identify themselves in pictures that way! K can see a picture of herself, but it is "Nina." Gotta love twins! :D
My boys did this a few months ago, but for now they tend to call each other their own names, as unintelligible as it is, it is still different enough to know. lol. Abram calls Wyatt, "Eye-it", which sounds eerily similar to light in his language. lol. He calls himself "Ay-um", Wyatt calls himself "eye-it" too, but I think he does call Abram wyatt as well, sometimes. But usually when looking at photos they say the right name, and not just the most convenient name to say... for now. lol
That was me, ha! Yeah, I can proudly say they call each other and themselves by their respective names now, YaY! One even stated how she preferred to be called since we all call her differently. Her name is Akira, I call her Kiri and everyone else calls her Kira. She said she prefers Kiri... and she's the one who would look in the mirror and call herself Tae. But it lasted a couple months from the time I posted before it dawned on her that she really isn't Tae. It took a bit of time in front of the mirror saying who she was. We'd play a game and set her on the bathroom counter every time we'd change her pants (changing table is in the bathroom) and keep asking who it was in the mirror. But they do know now that they are twins and that J is their older sister! Course, J thinks that means she's the boss, not!
Oh good. I am glad to hear that it didn't last too long. :D We do the same with Keira. We call her by her name and point out that the girl in the mirror or in the picture is called Keira. Sarafina actually called her sister by name this morning. So, we have progress there. Yay! I think you posted that post right around the girls' second birthday too, so it is happening at about that same age for us.
