The babes have their 18 month appt on Thursday (where 1 and 1/2 yrs has gone I have no idea) and I'm nervous because I know neither have gained a lot of weight. Right now by our scale Kay has only gained just over a lbs and Brad the same. I just don't want to listen to my doc again about how I have to feed them more and they should be on cows milk not BM. I'm probably just going to lie about still nursing so she won't bug me about that. But I don't know what else I can do to get them to gain weight. They eat like pigs but I guess they don't eat a lot of fatty foods. I've increased their carbs in an attempt to help them gain. I just hope they are back in their curves so I don't have to listen to it. At least I know they have grown in height. Ugh. Isn't it sad I'm scared to go to my doc in fear of "getting in trouble". Sorry ladies, more venting then anything.
Ugh YES I know this vent!! I'm sorry, Krista. I mean, for that horrible dread. My girly had her follow-up with the GI doc last week and it was dreadful in the days leading up to it worrying about what they were going to say/think about her size.
It's your big boy who wouldn't touch milk, right? Or both of them? My guy isn't doing milk yet, either. And I try daily. I nurse him 3 times per day now. Our pediatrician says "nurse them as long as you want" but I don't believe that he really thinks that. He was totally a formula pusher early on. Oh and this will be a source of dread, too -- my girl only takes milk from a baby bottle.
Actually, can I steal your vent here and ask that you (and everyone) throw out some ideas for fatty toddler foods to fatten 'em up? I'll tell you what's working for mine...
- fistfuls of cream cheese
- turkey meatballs (these in particular: Turkey Pesto Meatballs | Weelicious)
- spinach ricotta bites (Spinach Ricotta Bites | Weelicious)
