Question about cramping

For the past 4 days I have been experiencing cramping that comes and goes and can be painful at times. I just assumed it was the witch finding me. My question is, when your cycle started back up, how long was it after cramping started that it actually showed up? I thought by now that it would have started. Is there something else that could causing the cramping?

You're breastfeeding, right? My kids will be 2 in a couple of months, eating and drinking plenty of other stuff but still nursing several times a day, and I haven't got my period back yet. There were a few times that I had phantom cramping, though, and twice I've taken pg tests in case. I guess it really varies. I've heard of some bfing twin moms who got it back as soon as their kids started STTN, eating a bit of solids or taking half a bottle of formula every day, and others like me who waited and waited, sometimes until the kids were totally weaned.

I got my first PP AF with my DS when he was 3 months old. I was exclusively breastfeeding. I got it 6 weeks PP with the twins, but I FF. I always start having cramping at least one week before AF arrives. It is almost always in the morning when I wake up. It is super annoying. I have really wonky hormones though and I know that it is all off again. So, I am not really much help to you. Just know that sometimes what you believe are uterine cramps, can really be intestinal cramps. So, it is hard to know. I hope it stops and you don't have to deal with it for much longer. Sad

heres another question - when "she" does decide to show up does my cycle go back to how it was pre-pregnancy or does it adjust its self to the delivery of the babes? With DD1 I gave birth the day before her due date and my cycle, when it returned, was unchanged by the pregnancy.

I would love it if I didn't get it back until they are weaned but with DD1 I got it back at 4 months And BF till 9 months so I wouldn't be surprised it she returns this month

Yikes! I hope af is not on her way for you! I am not as blessed as Sarah. Mine always comes back about 6wks after starting solids. I was hopeful with twins it would stay away longer, but I delayed solids a bit longer with each kid (4.5mo, 6mo, and then about 7mo) and the first two it was the 6wks after, the twins it was 8wks, and I bf until they were two. Wink

And my periods have changed a bit after each pregnancy. This time, like Mel, I can tell my hormones are out of whack. I need to get on some bc, because mine have been extremely scary heavy flow since the twins were about 1. Sucks.

Oh yikes I didn't even consider that my hormones could be nutty when my period starts back up again. That makes me hesitant about making a decision on the type of IUD to get.

I'm having a hard time deciding on birth control. My cousin got pregnant on an IUD and DHs cousin got pregnant on the mini pill and we don't want anything permanent just yet (still considering that fourth baby).

I think most women find that their bodies eventually get back to whatever is normal for them. Once AF returned for me, it was back to every 28ish days like clockwork. For the first year or so, I could tell that my hormones were actually at good levels and it was wonderful. Then, about a year ago, it all changed back to what it was like when we were struggling with infertility. I have noticed that AF is a tad heavier for me since having the girls, but nothing drastic. I will say that now that my hormones are all wonky again, my PMS has reduced significantly. That is a good thing since my PMS almost sent me into rages at times. It was so bad it often made me cry after I yelled or got mad because I could not control it. It was kind of scary.

Mel.... that is what my hormones sound like, some serious pms! Yikes. I got a scrip for the bc when I was at my annual last may, I cannot find it for anything. I called to schedule my annual already, but I am debating calling to see if they can call in the bc in the mean time. The hormones out of whack and the heavy heavy periods are doing me in, and everyone else. lol

Ok so the cramps have not let up and they are more often now and no sign of the witch. So I went to the doctor and she said that it was post natal contraction. I know you get these after birth so your uterus goes back to normal but should I still be having them 6 months later? I didn't get that big. The pain varies and can get intense at times. The thing that is worrying me the most is the weight loss. I know some ppl would want to kill me for complaining about losing weight but honestly in the last 2 weeks I've lost 4 lbs and I'm eating like a horse. I'm convinced I'm dieing (I'm the worlds biggest worry wart). Anyone have any idea what the h*#% is going on?

I really don't have any idea... but weight loss may be normal, you may be eating like a horse, but you are nursing twins woman! And you chase after a preschooler and run around for babies all day. I lost my weight with the twins pretty fast. I am not putting a bit on since I quit nursing but have not quit eating like I am nursing. lol. Smile

I would just watch it, but I bet you are okay. Weird about the cramps though. But I do think I was crampy for a while before af made her first arrival.
