1 for cc pretty please - JMK

We normally don't get much in the way of snow in the UK, but we are in the middle of an artic freeze with plenty of the white stuff and snapped this while out with the family the other day. I really love this of him, but am I wearing Mummy goggles?

I really like it, the colours are nice, you have great eye focus
I'm not calibrated nor the best at skin tone so can't comment there.

Thanks! I use an imac and noticed that images are either a tad dark or too bright when viewed on other monitors, it's so hard to get just right. Plus I am not calibrated either (was hoping for Christmas, now have to hope for Mother's day.... March isn't too far away!).

Looks good to me too! Love the red coat against the white snow! Skin looks right on as well, (uncalibrated but seems to be okay)

I really like it as well. Love the bokeh, his expression, and the snow falling- all of it!

Thanks so much! So it's not obvious I did a head swap then??! I followed a tutorial (from one of the girl here?) on ILP.

I read through all the comments before I replied, and I had no clue you did a head swap. Amazing job! Love the contrast of colors.

Here's the 2 pics SOOC, just resized. Thankfully they were so similar the head swap was quite straightforward.

AWESOME HEAD SWAP! I love the end result (& I *never* would have realized you did a head swp). The composition, colors, and bokeh are all VERY NICE!!! You *should* be proud. Shooting in snow is HARD. Smile

You can't tell that you did a head swap. You did a great job! Out of curiosity though, what made you head swap? I can't really tell the reason behind it. I usually head swap as a last resort because there can be details that aren't noticeable at this size but are glaring when blown up.

NICE CAPTURE!!!!!!! I wouldn't change a thing. I couldn't tell you did a head swap either, but I think it was a nice choice. Wink (Sadie, my guess is that she swapped heads because the snow falling was so nice on the first, compared to the second ... but we have quite the expression on the first. ;))

Thanks everyone! I am really proud of this one, just wish the bright spots weren't competely blown. Oh well, good thing I had no plans to print it.

Steph, Gwen has got it spot on, The background on the one with his mouth open was the one I prefered, but loved the expression on the other shot.

Hi, portrait newbie/lurker here (I do nature/wildlife), I love your photo! I just wanted to ask, out of pure newbie-ness, what makes you decide to crop it so that his arm is going off the "page", instead of leaving it "whole"?
