1 Family Photo for CC

Hello! So...I dusted off my tripod and got out my remote and attempted a family photo today. My husband HATES photos, so I had limited time to get a few shots. (he's worse than dd). Here's the best one of the group. I know I cut off my knee...BOO! CC welcome please, as well as any suggestions for PP as this will be going out for our christmas card! Thanks ladies!

Exposure: 0.017 sec (1/60)
Aperture: f/5.6
Focal Length: 18 mm
ISO Speed: 200
Speedlight bounced off ceiling

it's cute! it seems a big bright, but I like that. I just wish your DH was closer to the two of you - he just seems too far above you.

my DH isn't a fan of having his picture taken either, at least not in a posed setting. I'll be feeling your pain once I figure out what we're doing for ours.

The background is too bright. Its at 255. Usually I try to keep it below 245 for whites. You can also decrease the yellow on your DD. It is a cute shot. Will this be for a xmas card?

Cute shot. I am sure that I will be feeling your pain when I attempt my family pics, made worse by the fact that I want to replace the 16x20 family pic I already have (now that we have ds3).

I agree that the background is too bright. I also see a strange a strange yellowish shadow to the right of your head and in the top left hand corner.

Thanks ladies, I really appreciate the cc! I did mask the background, cause it was greyish looking. I guess I overdid it. Smile I will give it another try tonight! El - How do I decrease the yellow in just DD? I actually tried decreasing it and hubby and I looked wierd.

Okay, couldn't help but give it a quick try before logging into work...any better? I decreased the brightness of the background (I believe its down to 235 now) and then decreased the saturation of yellows on entire pic.

I definitely like the edit better! It's a great photo, my only CC would be DH is a bit to high up. He needed to crouch down a little closer to your head. Oh well, it's a great family photo, good job! Smile

I like the last edit!! And while it may have been nice to have DH closer, I still really like this photo. DH looks proud to be w/ his ladies. A real keeping, imho. Smile

Your last edit looks great! I'm seeing some distortion, though. If you look at how large your DH's knee and hand look in comparison to like his head and to you, it looks off. Next time, make sure every one is on the same plane, that way everything looks the same size.
You have such a cute family. Smile

Thanks, I didn't even notice that until you pointed it out! I'm thinking it was probably b/c I had the camera pointed up a tad. Should have raised the tripod instead. Live and learn! Thanks for the cc!
