I struggle with these girls. I have posted a session with them here before, this one. They are all 3 so pale, it's a struggle to get the yellow/blues correct. Plus, this time, the middle one is 2- as you know, photographing a 2 year old is about IMPOSSIBLE! It was a struggle. She was super interested in me at the beginning, so I am glad I took a few then b/c I got NOTHING later on in the shoot. The mom was wanting some "personality" shots for the pageant they are in. That's the main reason for the shoot. She needs them quickly, so I need some cc. I realize, my editing was a bit different. I was liking the diff processing on these, so I went with it. Let me know if you don't think it works. Oh, and it was hot and nasty out there. The girls were so dirty and sweaty. Mom isn't super organized either. It was a LOT of work.
(All shot with my 50mm)
1. 1/1000, ISO-500, f/3.5
2.1/800, ISO-500, f/3.5
I do realize part of her dipe is showing...tried to clone, but FAILED.
3. 1/160, ISO-800, f/4.0
4. 1/800, ISO-500, f/4.0
5. 1/800, ISO-800, f/3.2
I wanted to say that if I am posting too much, PLEASE let me know. I just like having a second pair of eyes...or third, or fourth! LOL!
I think that overall these look great! The mom should be thrilled.
#2-5 need a bit more contrast and oomph.
#2...there's gotta be another way to cover that diaper. I forget--do you have PS? If so, try liquify, or maybe select it and cover it with the same pink as the dress, as if she has on a diaper cover?
#4...it bothers me that the side of her forehead gets lost in the reflection of the lake. Any way to define that a bit?
No CC to add, cute pictures my favourite is #5 it shows so much personality.

Yes, such a tough age to photograph.
#1. Looks like you may have had focus issues on this one? I wouldn't touch the contrast...you may consider darkening the background a touch.
#2. Bummer about the diaper....cute shot.
#3. I'm not feeling this one.
#4. Is her forehead blown? I don't like that the glare on the lake and her forehead bleed together.
#5. My favorite of the bunch. The post processing is lacking some oomph. If it were me, I'd darken it a bit (and of course I'd bump up the saturation a ton...but that's me...LOL).
Ugh...maybe it's photobucket. I don't have a clue how to give these more umph without blowing something. I feel like they looks soooo diff on my computer than the internet.
Awe, they are sweet.
I love those lashes. I envy your background and your outside shooting ability... I must practice this

i think mum will be very pleased with these, what cute girls!
1- ADORABLE! looks a little soft to me but it is so cute
2- i love this, wish i could think of a way to hide the diaper
3- beautiful lashes... i am a big sucker for lashes
4- it looks blown by the forehead
5- my favorite
I realize that this may not be the style you're looking for, but it is a good clean edit.
Then I went ahead and added some saturation, cause, well...that's my style.
Private in flickr....say the word and I'll take it down.

Boy, these girls look like triplets!!! their faces are so similar! I think your pics overall are beautiful.
I LOVE LOVE the colors in #1, and how there is a line in the background that is almost pink like the pinks in the subject/foreground! But I wish for #1 that the bed angle was straight, and that there was sharper focus on her face.
I LOVE #2 also! but the view up the dress and all the bug-bites on her leg are a tad distracting.
3 and 4 don't do much for me....#4 just has that blown spot blending with the water in back.
I like #5 a lot, it's just soft in the face again. I LOVE the bokeh'd light in the background, and the colors, but it needs some boost in the midtones & darks.
Edit: Amber your edits look awesome, I LOVE that style too! I very often add saturation too even in my nature work.
