50mm practice....6 pics

I bribed Eva today to let me practice on her with my new lens (the 50mm 1.8 )...so here are some for CC.
I would have preferred to have taken her eyepatch off but she needed it all day today.

I'm still trying to nail focus with this lens...pretty hard on a near-3-year-old who never stops wiggling for even ONE second....and it doesn't help that she was wearing her glasses (focus-wise).
But I took a pic of DH yesterday and focusing was easy! Lol

These were indoors in front of our big LR window. Natural light only, on manual.

1. 1/160, F/2.5, ISO 800

2. 1/100 (should have upped it a tad right? but I was going with my light meter), F/2.5, ISO 800

3. 1/100 (again, should have upped it a tad), F/2.5, ISO 800

4. 1/160, F/2.5, ISO 800

5. 1/100, F/2.5, ISO 800

6. 1/100, F/2.5, ISO 800

Those pictures look great for being indoors with only natural light!

Love them. So crisp and clear, and your daughter is a very cute subject!

what a cutie! and hooray for practice! I think these look pretty good, especially with ISO 800 (do you run noiseware?) #3 seems a little on the bright side, and while I like the feet, there is a toe chop going on. Wink

Thank you everyone!! Gwen, ACK I know I hacked one of her toes LOL. I should have re-taken the shot but I didn't because she was on the move the whole time. I have another shot of her holding her feet up in the air (she asked me to take pics of her "stinky toes" LOL!) in which I got all her toes! Smile but it reminded me of one of those newborn poses.
I haven't run noiseware...I always forget, but also I don't have a good one downloaded yet. I have to look back to see which one was good and free, that I could use. I think I had the ISO up to 800 because of being in the relatively dark room but next to the bright window....I'll have to try going lower next time I take pics at that window to see exactly.

Here is one more 50mm pic, from today, that I like...does it look ok?

1/800, F/2.5, ISO 200:

I need your house b/c you let in a lot of light! Well done Amy! I agree with you on some of your ss. They are a tad bit low, but you did great. 2 & 3 might be a bit too bright in some spots on her face though. She's a doll. That last one you posted, it looks as though the focus fell on her hands? I don't know, her face looks a bit soft. LOVE the piggies shot!

Thanks everyone, Sadie you're right her top half does look soft in my new pic. Darn it.

It's funny about my pics using my living room window because the LR is such a dark room (has brown paneling and a dark carpet that came with the house, we haven't redone that room yet) until you open the curtains....the window faces due west down a bend in the road so it gets more light in than say the same-size dining room window would get (same size window, same house wall).

We always think of our house (which is so little) as so dark with no good light because I have absolutely NO good windows for putting plants in--the only sills deep enough are on the east-facing walls and it's indirect light so most plants don't get enough there!

Well I hope I'll have a chance to work on some other "subjects" this week...hopefully an adult or two who will stay still LOL

You've already gotten lots of good comments, but I did want to chime in and say how cute these are! Despite the toe chop, I love that one!!! I saw a shot recently w/ toes that had happy faces drawn on them. I *so* want to try that. Smile

Love the new one too. She's just TOO CUTE!

TFS,
GiGi

Thank you all! I do see that they're warm...I'll have to play around to see if I can get it cooler without ruining the look (I like warm pics too heheh)

GiGi that does sound so cute! Smile
