Default 6 month old boy - pictures for CC

I'm editing pictures from a session I had on Tuesday with a 6 month old (I did his newborn session and his mom's maternity). I'm wondering how the skintones are looking. I've only tweaked in ACR (aside from some background cloning, but I haven't made any color adjustments in CS4). Before I get too involved in this set, I'd like to know how things are looking here.

If you want to CC on anything else, feel free to.

    3. This is just a snap I grabbed in between poses, but I thought it was sweet (that's my dining room table behind her). They have a huge difference in skintones so I went B&W for this. But I also tried a version where I did a gradient map and lowered the opacity to let some color in - but then I gave the baby a tiny bit more color because he was really pale compared to his mom. Which do you like better?

They look good skin tone wise. This frist looks a bit soft (focus on front of the overalls maybe) In 2 your focus looks spot on, but he slightly more yellow. In both pics the skin tones look good, so you should just choose the one that looks most like him in real life.

As for the black and white I like the first one better, the muted colour doesnt really work for me here.

    Overall you did good Gwen!!

Andie - I ran the first one through noiseware after I resized and sharpened for web ... that's probably why it looks soft. I'm gonna upload the original web version and replace it in this thread. So he seems warmer in the second one? My auto WB made him almost green in all of the SOOC shots on black, so I warmed him and gave him color in that set.

I personally like the 2nd for skin tone better, but only you know what his tone was like IRL. Also I cant beleive I missed the bear/bare bums but I LOVE that one...too cute!

I edited to add the bears after you posted the first time. I edited that one the very same day which is why I didn't think of it when I first started the thread.

I never see this baby, so I am not positive of his tones ... he's a light skin baby, I know that much, and I'm wondering if I'm giving too much color to him. Maybe I should ask him mom?

The bare bum one is adorable! I love the back of babies necks, perfect place for kisses!

The one of the baby & the mama, I prefer in B&W, a lovely candid shot.

The 1st shot looks like the focus is ever so slightly off, but can't really say where it landed.

Focus looks spot on in #2 but I can't comment on colour, it's the bane of my life!

I agree with Andie, I like the skin tone on the 2nd picture. His eyes look a bit overdone for my taste. Overall looking good.

Beautiful set, Gwen!! I LOVE the bum and bear shot. Too cute! 1 does look soft to me, not sure if you've switched out to a different version? And I like the slightly color version of mom and baby. I like that it isn't too colorful. Though, the table in the background is a bit distracting...

Here's another version ... here I ran it through noiseware BEFORE resizing and sharpening for web (where as in the first image, there was no noiseware at all - the initial image where I had run it through noiseware after resizing has already been deleted). Hopefully that makes sense.

And I checked with the mom, and his coloring is more like it is in the first image. So I guess I need to cool down the photos with the black backdrop before I do any more editing of those.

And no, I didn't touch the eyes here either. I'm not touching the eyes at all on this set, I try to avoid doing that when I know I have light in the eyes in camera.
