    Default ? about cropping

I took pics for my sister a while back. She is wanting to print them off. At first, I just cropped them however I wanted. One pic didn't turn out right when she printed it. It cut off the boys' heads. So, I went in, and cropped it to an 8x10. Now, when you upload it to Wal-Mart (this is where she wants to get them printed) it's still cutting his head off on a 4x6, and a 5x7....what am I doing wrong?

I usually get my favorites printed at Costco...I'm not sure if it's the same, but when you upload a picture you have to preview it, and it will show you where the picture may get cut off, so you can adjust your photo within that frame. Not sure if that helps, or if that is even the problem, but make sure she previews the image before she orders it.

When I previewed it, it cut off the taller boys' head. When I moved it down, it cut off the little boy. Maybe I should just keep in SOOC, brighten it up a tad, and then give it to her. Wish I just knew how to do all this.

I just did some pics for my brother and what I did was this ... I made 3 copies of each photo he wanted to print ... 1 in 4x6 ratio, 1 in 5x7 ratio, and 1 in 8x10 ratio [those were the only sizes he wanted printed]. then when naming the photo, i put the size in the name ... for example, 4x6pic001.jpg, 5x7pic001.jpg, etc.

I find that so many places mess stuff up when you have THEM do the cropping for you ... so I just do it myself and take the worry out of it.

Ok, thanks GiGi. I thought that's what I might have to do. I didn't want WM to crop them, it just automatically did it. I told my sis, and she said she'll just print it as an 8x10 and cut it....it's for scrapbooking!

The reason it gets cropped is because it's a different ratio... I just got pics printed and assumed they would maybe look at it and change (because the people who run the machines can) before printing, but no! lol

I really like to print from winkflash.com. They have an "inset" option that prevents their cropping.

yup its a ratio thing sorry you'll have to go back to the sooc and crop it to the size you want to print.
