    Default Am I ready?

The newborn shoot is on for tomorrow. I've been practicing on a newborn size (length, anyway) doll, and I have everything all set up to go. I have my list of poses printed, I have a contract for her to sign (I own the images, basically), I have a stash of burp cloths, blankets, and lap pads ready.

I wasn't feeling well this weekend, and the mom was worried. So I went to the doctor today to get checked out. I have the start of a sinus infection, so we're aggressively treating it. Nothing contagious, and the mom is reassured.

Come bedtime tonight, my oldest son tells me he's hot and not feeling well. Sure enough, he has a fever. It's low grade, but he seemed even hotter after I tucked him in. I gave him Motrin. I really needed him to go to school tomorrow, as they're giving the H1N1 vaccine there (yes, we're getting it). But if he has a fever, no vaccine for him. And if he's actually sick, well, no photo shoot for me. So please send get well vibes our way!!!!

Meanwhile, here are some of my practice shots. I haven't PP'd these at all (so the one with the sheer blue stuff really has off colors compared to the rest!). Anything jump out at you? Should I remove the baseboard for the basket shots? I think it's distracting ...

I know the focus is off on some of these, definitely will be keeping a careful eye on the focus. And most of these are centered, I know. I can't seem to get far enough back for a better comp. I might see if I can move the backdrop stand back, but I don't have much room to go.

I forgot to sharpen for web, and I'm thinking some of these really do seem softer here than on my computer.

(I sure hope the cocoon fits him okay!)

Thanks in advance for any advice.

I love that you used a doll to practice on, I did the same thing, let me tell you though the newborns are SO much harder than dolls! lol I like the shots that you have. The cacoon is darling! I can't wait to see a real baby in it! Hopefully your son is better so you can shoot, and he can get the h1n1! keep us posted girl

tell me about it! at one point, I propped my gray card up on the doll, thinking to myself that there's no way I could do that tomorrow. ha ha ha ha

I'm not thrilled with the blanket choices.

Im with Amber on this. The different colours int he first few pics are distracting. I like the hat and fluffy blanket but the yellow bucket is kind of distracting. I wonder how the fluffy blanket would look in the first few pics instead of the blue one.

that's good to know. I brought down more from Jack's room (before seeing the replies) and will play with them too. I'm not committed to the yellow bucket, I don't think I can get the baby comfy in it, actually. good thing I have a few hours in the morning to see what will work.

The baby might be more movable than the doll though so the yellow bucket might work.

I cant wait to see the pics from the session

I have no advice, agree with the blankets though.

I hope your son is ok so he can get his shot and you can do your shoot! Good luck!

Andrew has a fever of 102 ... no photo shoot today. I have more time to practice, I guess, but the baby will be 2 week on Thursday and I feeling like my window is closing.

Please pray he doesn't have the flu ... I don't want the whole house to get sick. Only one of us has been vaccinated so far (two are scheduled for Thursday and the one who already had seasonal is getting H1N1 at school today)
