Default Amber (and other full frame users)

So, I'm starting to plan my camera upgrade. I was all set to go with a 7D (crop sensor), until I read about the new 6D (full frame). I was surprised, but I actually got hubby on board with the price. We're planning on putting about $50 away every month and combining it with the money I made with the sessions I did in IL before moving. What was left, we were going to use our tax return/work bonus.

Then I had a realization: I'd be left with only one lens. My 18-55mm and 55-250mm EF-S lenses won't work on the 6D. That leaves me with my 50mm 1.4. That lens stays on my camera 95% of the time, but I'm worried about that being my ONLY option. The price difference between the body only and with the lens is about $800. There's no way I'd be able to get that amount out of my XTi and 2 EF-S lenses. Especially since the mount for the external lens is damaged.

So, will I miss my other 2 lenses much on a full frame? Is it that big of a difference, that I wouldn't feel cramped at crowded places? There's no way I would have been able to use my 50mm at Disney last month, so I had my 18-55mm on the entire time. Or, would there be another suggestion for lenses than the 24-105mm lens that comes with the 6D on Amazon that would be less expensive to "replace" my wider lens? Or would I even need anything wider than the 50mm? Maybe I should just go with the 7D like I originally planned, and save some $$...

    My head is spinning now...

I rarely find that my 50mm is too long in close quarters unless I'm set on getting a full body shot. The recent photos of James were all taken in my bedroom with my 50mm. There are cheap options for zooms out there that may work to give more options. My cheap Tamron zoom was a little over $300 (refurbished). It's 28-300mm 3.5-6.3 and no, it's not nearly as good as the quality I get from any of my other lenses...but it's perfect for capturing Disney snaps. In fact, I usually use it over my Canon 24-70 2.8L because of the large zoom.

I'm actually seeing it for under $300 on ebay. It's definitely worth that price tag!

Thanks so much for your input, Amber! I'm pretty sure I could get $300 out of the camera + 2 kit lenses to get that lens. Still a tough decision for me. I really want to go FF so I won't feel like I want to upgrade again for quite some time (I think hubby would kill me if I asked to upgrade after only a year or so), but I'm just not sure that I can invest in it at the moment. I'd wait if I wasn't already pretty frustrated with my XTi. I've had it for 4 years now, and I've really outgrown it. I wish decisions were easier for me to make...I'm such an indecisive person!

I'm very new to the full-frame world (just got my Nikon d600 last week), but I was reading that you can reverse-mount your lenses (even zoom lenses), and that turns them into cheap macro lenses. I just ordered a coupler and step-up ring to try out attaching my 18-55 dx lens backwards onto my full-frame glass to see if it works because nobody wants to buy it from me. Might be worth looking into?
