another new COTW has been added

Gwen (coolmama72) has chosen the topic of panning action shots as our next challenge.

See the sticky at the top!

Okay...they're not amazing because they are handheld at 400mm...YIKES! I kept the shutter speed around 1/50 to get the background blur and semi sharp subject. It is a very hard thing to do....especially at 400mm out. You've got to have a subject that is moving long and fast enough to find their pace and be able to follow it before you click the shutter. Then you need a steady hand! Very steady...steady but moving smoothly.

I have dozens of attempts, here are 4 of my favorites.

OMG, Amber! Those are amazing! I can't believe that's hand held at 40mm. They look like paintings. WOW!

You really do need to post some more pics for us. Smile

Best,

I'm working on it...I've been in business organization purgatory lately. I desperately want to get to the Kenya pictures, but I just can't seem to find time for it.

Great wildebeest shots! I have a good panned shot of Eva on the merry-go-round when she was about a year old and she has this look of sheer joyful surprise on her face....but like Amber, I sadly can't use it for this challenge! I am excited to try this out with my Canon though!
