another one for cc please! (added another edit from last post)

I am happy to see this board moving a bit more. I decided to try another b&w photo. I really want to master it and I have realized, I AM FAR FROM IT! Lol I get so frustrated with editing. What do you think? Ah, now it looks too bright!

Oh and here's the one you all said you wanted more contrast added to it. Does it help or do I go about it all wrong?

EDIT.......................................................................................................ORIGINAL

#1 is good. I would clone out her fingers.

#2 I actually like the original. Your edited version needs more blacks/contrast to it.

Sadie, I have to run and will have to look at your other thread this afternoon. I really like that first one and think your conversion looks great. your second one still needs some work. it needs some of the brightness of your first to balance out the extra contrast (does that make sense?) your original seems flat. so brighten the edit and see what that does.

Sadie, I LOVE the first one!!! I kinda agree with El, the fingers are kind of distracting. I think it's just because you got 3 of them and not the whole hand.

With your second, I like the original better. The edit seems a bit too sharp and dark.

I don't think I could successfully clone out the fingers and make it look good, but I will give it a whirl. Thanks so much ladies for all your help. I felt better with this b&w than I have any other ones. I appreciate all you repsonding and being helpful, while cc'ing! Biggrin

For the record, her finger chop doesn't bother me in the least bit. I mean, yeah the whole hand would be nice, but I wouldn't change anything in regard to the fingers.

I had to play ... I did an S curves adjustment layer and then use the screen blending mode for it at 38% - I edited the original not your newer edit - this lightened it and gave it a little punch. it's private in Flickr, I'll take it down when we're done with the thread. Wink

I *adore* that first one, Sadie!!!! That is exactly the style of b&w that I love!

As for the 2nd pic, I like Gwen's edit best.

I'm impressed with how much work you are putting into your conversions. I love a good b&w, but it's hard to get it just right. Good on you for perfecting the process!

Best,
GiGi

#1 looks great, and I don't mind the finger chop either. #2 still looks a bit flat...

Thanks ladies! I really appreciate the comments. I was happy with 1, but I knew something was lacking in the 2nd one.
