A friend of mine that I went to school with in my hometown just asked if I could photograph her wedding! She said she's on a budget and I told her I'd just love the practice! It's in August so I have plenty of time to prepareShe's so much fun too! So giggly. I'm sure they will be so much fun to photograph! And wow...it will be a great opportunity for me! I just hope I have something set up by then (a desk with a proper monitor to edit my pictures) in my parents house since we're moving this summer. I hope I'm settled by then
or sort of at least. I'm looking forward to it though! I loved doing my friends wedding last summer and if I love this one just as much I think I might want to get into wedding photography. I'm not sure though. I guess I'll see with time and if I get more opportunities
I just wanted to share! Man I wish I had a zoom lens!

I'm sure you'll do great.
Is your birthday before the wedding? Maybe you can hint at getting that lens.![]()

I think her being a friend, not a very close one but one I've known for years, helps a lotI don't know if I could do strangers yet. It's a start! That's the way I see it and I know what people may want as far as photos. I've seen plenty of wedding albums. The poses I'm not too confident in yet so I'll be doing more research on that I'm sure
It came so naturally to me at my friends wedding last summer. If I can, I might end up renting a lens. We'll see. I did a pretty ok job using my Tamron last summer. I'll have to practice fill flash as well. And probably go ahead and buy a reflector. I just hope my pictures turn out ok.
btw... does anyone else sound really bossy when it comes to a photo shoot? I've noticed I sound really bossy but I'm not...I just know how I want a photo![]()
Wedding is a lot of work. Great for you for taking this on. I know you'll do good because you did on your first one. I practically gave up on it. I did 3 weddings and I don't think its for me right now.

Just chug-chug-chugging along.
ThanksI'll be doing lots of research between now and then. I think I might go ahead and order some books. I have a list I want to share here. I'll do that later. It's so hard to choose which ones I want to buy! I know I am definitely interested in wedding photography. I think I'll know for certain after this one though
It IS a lot of work, that's for sure. But after shooting my friends wedding, I felt so great about myself and my work. I've never felt that way before. It was nice.

Awesome! What a great deal for her, and great practice for you!
I think it's required to be a little bossy, and probably even more so with weddings...I wish my wedding photographer would have been even a touch bossy so I didn't have to do all the directing (it was a nightmare!). But the fact that my groomsmen were all inebriated didn't help the cause either
Can't wait to see the pics!![]()
This is AWESOME and I know you'll rock it just like you did the last wedding!
I've had offers from friends to do a couple of weddings and I just couldn't bring myself to do it. It takes a special person (imho). And yes, I think you need to be a bit on the bossy side. But that way they end up with a product you can BOTH be proud of.
Can't wait to see what you come out with this time.
Best,

thanksI'm not holding my breath though. She just asked me and for all I know she might find someone else she likes. Either way, it's ok. I won't be heart broken if she goes with someone else
I just saw someone suggested a photographer for her and I took a look at this persons photos. The poses and composition is not all that bad really but they are underexposed and white balance is way off and a lot of outdoor ones you can clearly tell flash was used but I can't tell if it's a speedlite or on camera. And she goes a bit over board with vignette.
I know, I'm being picky! hehe
