    Default Backlighting Attempt #2 CC

The sun was actually out for a short time yesterday, so we ventured out in the soggy, muddy yard for a bit. I gave backlighting another shot. Before, I was not spot metering, so he was underexposed. This time I spot metered. Am I closer now?

    Attempt #1:
    1/100
    f/5.6
    Focal Length 55 mm
    ISO 100

    Attempt #2:
    1/125
    f/5.6
    Focal Length 55 mm
    ISO 200

Closer! I love number 1. If you stepped back a tad and got his elbows in it would look even better. I would probably up your iso slightly - but this is workable. Still a tad under exposed - that is where an off camera flash would help or a reflector.

Shutter speed for #1 is too slow so you've got some motion blur. Exposure otherwise isn't too bad. Definitely should have bumped that ISO up a couple of stops so you could have had a fast enough shutter speed and a slightly brighter exposure.

    #2...really nice.
