It's been entirely too long since I've been on here. photography has kind of been on the back burner. I had my daughter on February 11 (my birthday!). 2 weeks early and she came super fast! We hired an amazing, wonderful photographer to document the birth as well as maternity and newborn. I was so glad she was there for the birth...it was so super fast and intense that I'm not sure I would have remembered much if I didn't have the photos to remind me!
Anyways, on to what I've been doing. I took these for a friend's one year old today at a park here. Wow, tough to chase a little one around! She is so adorable though and was so cute running around that I had so much fun.
Any and all CC is welcomed. I want to get back in the swing of things. I took engagement photos for another friend about a month ago, but felt "rusty" since it had been so long since I'd done anything!

I know her back is to me, but by this point she was done. I still practiced with this though b/c the fountain in the back is usually always gleaming white b/c of the sun hitting it. We were under a canopy of live oak trees, so usually everyone is dark and the fountain is very washed out.

welcome back! and congrats on your birthday buddy daughter! It's so very special to share a b-day. I share mine w/ an aunt and a cousin. I think we need to see some of YOUR newborn shots.
You did a very nice job w/ this 1 year old. She's adorable and you really caught that here.
1. I'd like to see just a bit more contrast in your conversion. She has beautiful eyes and lovely curls and both have lost a little bit of pop here in this b&w.
2. it looks a little green to me and maybe even a bit cool over all in your wb. LOVE this one though! From her cute little bow to those adorable chunky cheeks. I just love it!
3. this is probably my favorite of the set. You did an great job w/ focus, especially considering such a wide open aperture! I'll bet mom and dad go nuts for this one (I would).
4. I like this one, even w/ her back to us. Following behind a 1 year old is just part of the gig, right? The fountain is pretty blown, but I don't really see that as being a problem. Might want to try a test print to be sure though.
Again ... it's great to have you back! I hope we see a LOT more from you soon.
Best,
GiGi
Congratulations on your baby! So neat to share your LO's birthday. I was in labour the entire 24 hours of my DH's birthday, with our DD, and she arrived 2.5 hours after his birthday ended. I was so disappointed. It's a special thing to have that birthday bond! We'd sure love to see your newborn shots!
Great job with the 1-year-old. I love #3!

How awesome to share a birthday with your LO! Talk about the ultimate present, right?? Can't wait to see some photos!
CC (I'm really trying to get better at this, so take it with a grain of salt)
#1 - Looks a little washed out to me. At first glance, I thought it looked a little soft, but looking at it closer, I think it's just the conversion. Maybe add some more contrast like GiGi suggested.
#2 - First thing I saw was green. I'm terrible with colors though, so I could be off. But I love the comp and the expression on her face. I think it may be my favorite out of all of them.
#3 - The color looks off to me here too, but can't decide why. Great focus here, and you caught a cute little smile!
#4 - I see what you mean about the fountain. It's such a great backdrop, that you'd hate to have it blown. I'm no expert, but from the CC that I've been given lately, maybe try a reflector so you can expose the background better but still get some more light on your subjects. I believe you use this location a lot (from what I remember seeing from you previously), and I'm so freaking jealous of where you liveMy husband and I visited while I was pregnant with DS1, and we said we wanted to move there.
Congrats and Welcome back!

Just chug-chug-chugging along.
Hi and congrats on sharing a birthday with your DD! My DH was hoping to have our DD on his birthday, but she decided to wait until 2 days later
I see the green in the second one and agree that the color is looking a little off on the third one, but my monitor isn't calibrated, so it may just be exaggerated on my end. I would also like to see some more contrast in your conversion of the first one. I adore the comp of the third pic. You really captured her well there![]()
