    Default Blog for photos?

I'm thinking about starting a blog for my photography and other projects. Just a way to show off some of my favorites. I scrapbook, I sew, I take pictures - I'd like to share what I do. Right now, I tend to just share via Flickr or Photobucket. I had a family blog going for a while, but I think it's best to start over from scratch. I haven't updated the family blog (used blogger) in well over a year. But what I really didn't like about it was adding pictures - there were a ton of format errors and it was a headache.

So I'm leaning towards wordpress. I'd love to know if you blog your photography (I know a lot of you do) - what you use, and how you share your photos (like do you share them from Flickr? I don't want to upload to a variety of sites).

If you feel like it, post a link to your blog so I can take a peek too.

And any other things I should know? Like do you have your own domain or do you host on the blog site? I own a domain name for my photo card business, but that expires in October and I don't think I will renew it. I host my photo card stuff on freewebs, so I will just link directly to the freewebs instead of having my coolmamacards.com domain. If I end up turning the photography into more than hobby, I hope to be able to use the blog along with the business (again, WAY in the future, so I don't know if it's even worth thinking about that aspect right now).

Thanks in advance for your help!

I have 2 blogs that I use for personal use, I think I'm the only one that reads them

I have one I started a couple years ago for my knitting, crafting and now photos, and one I started when I got pregnant for family updates

I have blogger and I must say its a huge pain for me to post pix, uploading them isn't so much of a problem its just that once they upload they are all put at the top of the post and I have to then move them to where I want them in the post, its annoying. Maybe there is another way that I dont know of??

A couple of the awesome photographers I follow use Sqaurespace for theirs - I have wordpress and I'm not super impressed by it (don't like the template options...)

I've used both blogger and wordpress. Blogger was easy, but limiting. Wordpress, from a programming point of view, is awesome, but to do all the cool stuff you need to know how to manipulate the code some. My buddy is a programmer and I've done some template work with him. WP is becoming more and more popular and is very efficient to the point that it could be a stand alone website and not solely a blog.

I do like that you can choose the "blog this" option in flickr to post to blogs. You can also post to twitpic/twitter with it.
The full list of blogs you can link to flickr are:
    Blogger
    Typepad
    Moveable Type
    Live Journal
    WordPress
    Vox
    Twitter

This could be an easy way for you to transistion into a photo blog. Here's mine that I set up to link to Flickr, but that I rarely blog to:

i use blogger. i use flickr to host my photos because i like the bigger size and as a pp mentioned, blogger's photo upload is a pain with arranging. i use mine mostly to keep family updated and to help my mommy brain remember the little things in everyday life. the link is in my siggy.

thanks girls, I really appreciate your input!

    I'm leaning towards wordpress.

Lauren - the link to your blog didn't work.

Everyone else - I hope to check out all of your blogs soon (gotta do bedtime, but do have a couple of them open in tabs right now)

And now I need to think of a name for my blog ... that's even harder!
