Blueberries & butterflies - just a share (pic heavy)

I'm a few weeks behind in my editing of photos. Since I shoot in RAW, I'm always editing. I only have 11 days left on my LR3 trial, so I really need to step it up in figuring out a good workflow there. These were done in ACR only, as I was busy doing something else in LR.

I told Amy ages ago that I took some butterfly pictures, so I thought I'd share them now. Wink

This was the first time we've ever gone blueberry picking, definitely need to do it again next year (and more than once)

Numbered in case you want to comment. Figured since I wasn't looking for CC, I won't bother posting settings.

I've gotta get Logan to camp, but I wanted to bump this up before it gets lost and to let you know I'll bbl w/ c&c.

I *adore* the bonus shot of Jack. That boy must keep you smiling all day long. Biggrin

So pretty, Gwen! Looks like it was a gorgeous day! That is really neat that the Red Admiral was perched on the blueberry bush. Unusual.

I wish MY blueberries were that big this year! Despite the rain we got, and some extra watering, they were still very little (the berries). Sad

"My" Red Admirals haven't been back lately but I've had an Eastern Tiger Swallowtail visiting...but he/she won't let me get close; he takes off right away. So I'm still trying. But I got some more new macros/butterflies/etc. this weekend so maybe I'll show some in a little bit....

And Jack is a cutie-patootie as always! Smile

Great shots! I love seeing your kids, they always seem to be so sweet and helpful with eachother. Jack reminds me SO much of one of my nephews, and if he's anythink like my nephew, he definelty keeps you smiling and busy chasing after him ALL of the time!

for snaps like these, I just check the WB in ACR (although I am trying the trial version of LR) and try to keep the temps consistent over sets of photos, depending on my light. then I open them in CS4, and run noiseware on a duplicate layer if needed (didn't do that on these though, only on one that was really underexposed and got noisy when I pushed up the exposure). then I crop and resize/sharpen for web. that's it. sometimes I'll do a contrast boost in curves, but I didn't do that on any of these. hope that helped!

These really are great, Gwen. And what a fun place! We have something like that near by, but I've never been. I may have to check it out now. Wink

I think #3 is my favorite. I love the way the blueberry stems frame the butterfly. Draws my eye right to him. And the contrast in colors really draws me in as well.

#5 is a really sweet moment w/ the boys. The older Jack gets, the more he resembles Andrew. It's really cute to see them together like this.

As always, thanks for sharing, Gwen!

Best,
GiGi
