The workshop I took was all about using natural light to it's fullest and we got to try out Chiaroscuro Lighting (In Italian it means light/dark). I was wondering if anyone wanted to practice taking a piece of fruit or an object and seeing what beautiful settings we could find.
To do Chiaroscuro light, you find a beautiful pocket of light (could be through a window) and expose your image for the highlights (so don't over expose your highlights). That will make your shadows/black, really darken out dramatically.
It was a really big way of painting with the Old Masters (Vermeer, etc) and there is lots of info to google, but it's an incredible way to start looking for light.
Anyone up for it? I was thinking that we could try it out this week and put up some images on the weekend of what we did and chat about it!
