Can you help me with a skin tone check? - Any better now?

Hi, ladies! I had my second practice session other than jmk the other day, and it was also my first newborn. I was wondering if any of you could tell me if I am on the right track with his skin tone in this picture. I am totally lost on that, between not really recognizing skin tone issues to begin with plus my new computer/calibration. I posted a few of the pictures on ILP the other day and since then I have gotten the skin tones to be more consistent but now that I'm looking at them again I'm wondering if it is still too orangey? TIA for any help, and any other cc is welcome as well!

Is this any better? Too cool now?

Here's the thread there if you are interested or really bored. Smile

Hello. My first impression was that if the skin tone is off at all, it looks a bit orangy to me...but I am lost as well with skin tone, so take that cc with a grain of salt. Smile But, wanted to say this is such a cute pic. What were your settings?

Thank you, Jess. I was so incredibly nervous about this shoot! I know that I messed up on a lot of things, but I was glad that I got some pictures that at least turned out okay. As for the skin tone I am so confused. I was thinking too orange earlier, but now I'm not so sure.

Sorry I forgot to add the settings! I am always forgetting something. I'll add them at the top, too.

I'm not that great with skin tones but I am calibrated and I think just looking quick that it's still kind of orange and you probably could take out a little yellow and a little red without being too cool. I did a quick play in photoshop and it looks better to me but I didn't save or anything.

I suck at color, and I know that's what you want feed back on, but I just wanted to say that I think you did a great job with this picture! I love his pose and the warmness of the photo.

I peeked at your ILP thread, and you're right, your skin tones were all over the place. But I love the last one in that thread, beautiful! The image posted here is quite lovely. Something is bugging me about the color though, and I can't place my finger on it. I think the baby needs a little more pink in his skin - his fingers in the first version are probably more of the right color you could be aiming for. But take that with a grain of salt, I'm having possible color issues.

I think you did a great job for your first newborn!!!!

Thanks ladies!

I really want to send these to the mom tonight and I am going insane trying to figure out the whole color thing. I did set CWB in camera but I think the sun was just in and out of clouds too much. Well anyway, thank you very much for your ideas, Gwen. They are very helpful, actually!
