CC (1st time in manual)- PICS, NO LINKS!

Sorry ladies. My computer does not say [url] anywhere on it. Not sure what's wrong. My computer NEVER did this at home and I always used flickr. ANYWAYS...here they are. Thanks for dealing with my stupid self. I really appreciate it. I am guessing these are the settings you want...

1) Exposure- (1/25), Ap- f/6.3, ISO- 100

2) Exposure- 1/30, Ap- f/6.3, ISO- 100

3) Exposure- 1/10, Ap- f/5.6, ISO- 100

4) Exposure- .4, Ap- f/16.0, ISO- 100

5) Exposure- 1/40, Ap- f/5.6, ISO- 100

are you sure you can't post the other link? Very confusing. If you can access flickr to get the html address, you should be able to grab the html link from the all sizes page. Strange.

And the preg.org post picture option doesn't show up at your workplace, but the message board does? I'm so confused.

That is weird. Are you just hitting CTRL C on the code and CTRL V to paste it because I don't think that it is copying everything correctly?

ETA: Okay, I discovered the problem. I don't know why...but the tag you're trying to use has these extra [URL] things that don't need to be there. Remove them all and you get the picture as shown above. You can't see the [URL] in the post because it's an html tag that is turning part of your post into a link. After you paste into the thread...check for those little [URL] and /URL] tags and delete them before you publish your post.

I just hit copy and then paste, and it does that weird thing. It only does it on this computer. Maybe I should try another one in the lab. I will in a bit.

Well, Amber got one to show up. What am I doing wrong?

It looks like your shutter speeds are WAY too low. Try to keep it above 1/125 to get a sharper image. You're getting great light and catch lights though. Smile

That other link works if you click on the little yellow box with the mountain and sun in preg.org and paste into the field that pops up...but the image is too large...try using the medium size in flickr rather than the original. (see image below for what happened).

updated my previous post with what I did and why it worked. Scroll up to read the edited post. What's probably happening on your work computer is that it thinks it's super smart and is adding those little [URL] tags to be helpful. ???? I dunno...it is strange...but remove them and it should work perfectly.

Ok, I can't figure it out. I don't have any url on my computer screen...don't know what's going on. Guess the only way I can do it is link it. Sorry. Sad I still appreciate all cc.

Amber- I do want to ask- it all may sound stupid- but remember I am still completely new-
When I was messing with my shutter speed, I would up it to really fast, but then my ap wouldn't be right in my meter. Does the meter make a big difference?

I think it's a great start! I don't have much experience to be CCing these, but the last one looks like a WB problem to me. Did you have your WB on auto?

Yes, I did have it on auto. That's something I have not had the guts to mess with yet.

For the first part...I can see the [URL] when I quote your post to reply to it (quote like I've done above) You can see "[URL]" several times in the link. It doesn't show up in the actual thread because it is HTML code and it makes the text become a link.

This is more important than you think. Lots of us won't take the time to click on the links to give you CC (myself included). Giving CC is enough work for most of us, so the extra time it takes to click individually through each image and figure out the settings on our own is asking a bit much. I'm happy to help you figure it out so you can make the extra effort so that giving you CC won't be so difficult.

when you type an active link in here it looks like this [URL] http://etcetera etcetera etcetera.com . then at the end there is an end url that I can't type here or it will make everything look like a link. These [URL] things should NOT be in what you paste here to post a picture. Just delete them.

OR...even easier than that is to do the second option...and this is what I do when I link pictures from flickr.

click on "all sizes" above your image in flickr. Click on "medium". Then find the 2nd text box below the image that says "Grab the photo's URL:" Copy the text in the box. Come to Preg.org and in your reply or post box...click on the little yellow square with the mountain and the sun on it in the tool bar above the post's text box. Paste the url you copied from flickr in the box that pops up and click okay. This will put your image in your post or reply.

For the second part....I'm not quite sure what you're asking. AP, ISO, and SS are all related... If you change one, you'll have to change another in order to achieve a proper exposure. You have to decide for each image...what is the most important thing? If you're shooting a child or a moving subject...the most important thing is generally shutter speed. If you're shooting macro...the most important thing is depth of field (AP). ISO is rarely an artistic choice...you just need to choose the lowest possible ISO to keep the shutter speed and or aperture where you want it/them.

I admit I don't look at them if there is a link Sad

when I'm using flickr I just right click on the picture (whichever size I want) and click copy image location, then click on the "insert image" (the yellow mountain) icon and paste it there

or you can just type without the spaces

do you want to call me tomorrow and I'll walk you through posting them over the phone? if so, PM me. Smile the other girls are right, you really need to actually post the pictures (AND the settings) to get good CC. You know I love you, but I can't even go through the links right now.

(I do want to say that I'm amazed at the clarity of one of the photos of Randy with a low SS! He's such a cutie ... but typically you want SS faster than 1/10)
