Between the puppy and a wedding (I was the Matron of Honor) I went to this weekend I really haven't had much time for pictures. Apollo did take a pretty good nap today so I took the time to go over the pictures DH took at the wedding.

This one I took myself with a P&S that is very limited on settings I've done some PP on it but would love CC on that and how I could better improve it.

Hey ladies, just wanted to pop in a and apologize for my absence in this group. I should've known before I jumped on board, but I was just so excited, thinking this is exactly what I need! However, right now I am just a few weeks away from having a baby, my boys have just started a new school year, and I started a new job (an awesomely rewarding job, btw!). That all seems to be more than enough for me at this moment. I'll still be checking in here when I can, probably mostly lurking. And hopefully this fall when things settle down a little, I can come back?

This one looks pretty green to me, Amanda. Try moving the slider in ACR towards the magenta side to see if it helps. You may need to even do a hue/sat layer.

    Amanda,

I'm glad you were able to grab this shot - she just looks so sweet! Being a member of the wedding party makes it really hard to get anything - even snaps! So kudos to you for making the effort.

I do agree with Stephanie on the green cast. There is also a blown spot just above her head. But I think that, personally, I would love to see this as a b&w. The dainty dress and fancy shoes just cry out to me for b&w.

She looks adorable here and I think b&w might be a way to minimize the background and bring the attention back to your sweet subject.

    Best,

    Tina,

Don't worry about it! We'd love to have you join in for CC until your life settles down enough for regular posting. But even that is not necessary. When you are able to come up for air again, let us know and we'll find a place to plug you in.

    Take care,
    GiGi

I've struggled with the green, so decided to take some advice and try a B&W, here is my first attempt.
This was done with an RGB Decompose, then I just played around with the settings until I got something I liked.

Amanda ... I really like this b&w edit! You might even consider adding a vignette to diminish the background a little. But even as-is, I think this looks really sweet.

It's been a crazy day and I was beginning to think I would never get these off the camera in time. These are Logan's first day of school pics from this morning. All taken w/ my trusty 50mm at f/3.5 and iso of 800. ss varied a bit depending on available light.

    2.

and this one is from a few days ago, just playing around the house. thinking about a b&w conversion, but haven't had the time or energy yet.

1 & 2) Great exposure on both of these, you always seem to do really well with that. I am not a fan of the wall/door in the background on these I think it's probably just the angle.

    3) This captures some great emotion, and again your exposure is great on your son, I do find the bricks he's sitting on are a bit over-exposed, but it's not bothersome. I would love to see a conversion on this.

I was at the Ex (a fair) in Toronto yesterday and didn't get home until late, I'll try to post a pic for CC tonight or tomorrow (I'm at work on my laptop right now).

Amanda- I like your b&w! She looks so sweet

    GiGi-

1 & 2. These are both so sweet! I can't decide which expression I like better. I do agree with Amanda, the 3 differing backgrounds are a little distracting. I wish the entire background was the white brick/red brick. It's not a deal breaker for me though. He has great connection with the camera, so I really like these both.

    3. This one isn't working for me. The angle is off for me, I wish his foot wasn't chopped, and the blown spots on the brick are distracting. I think if you would have stood more straight on to him rather than at an angle, it would have worked a little better. I love his playful expression, though.
