CC Group

Here's our schedule for our CC group! Let me know if any of you would like a different day. We'll just keep posting our new images and CC in this thread and keep it going. Let's try to keep the images brand new, but if you have to go back a week or so, it's not a big deal. We just want to make sure that we're taking the CC and applying it to new images. When it's your day, post 1-3 images you would like CC on. Please remember to include your settings, including focal length. If you're still struggling with exposure, it would be helpful to also see the SOOC. Always feel free to provide the SOOC! You will always get helpful feedback when there's a "before" image.

It's important to give honest critique. At the same time, it's also important not to be harsh. Giving CC is just as important as receiving it. Analyzing others photos make you have a more critical eye on your own work. So please try to give CC every day.

It's 10pm here and it is my daughter's birthday tomorrow but I will be back tomorrow night once she is in bed to see what has been posted.

Ok, here it goes. I see so much wrong with them already, but I would love to see what everyone else has to say. I shot in RAW and I don't know how to get the SOOC shot without sharing my RAW edits....any ideas? All shot with my 85mm, 1.8.

Is there anyone who wants to alternate weeks with me for posting pictures? I would love to be apart of this, but I'm not sure I'll have time to post pictures every week- I would make sure to CC on everyone's though :) I'm super busy because I work nights/weekends now.

Thanks for starting us off, Sadie!! Your kiddos are too adorable. As far as the SOOC from RAW, I usually just open the RAW file from ACR/Lightroom with the default settings in PSE and save the jpeg.

#1 - I love where this one is going. I like the pose. There are a couple of little things that I think you could change to make this shot a little stronger. First, I would have Randy lean his head in a little closer to Ruthie. Maybe you also could have had Ruthie put her hands on his arms, but I'm sure she was balancing herself on the ladder. I can imagine he was leaning on her ;) One thing that I'm noticing is that Ruthie is standing out more than Randy is. And if you look at it closely, you can see that she is against the trees, and he's against the sky. With the white shirt that he's wearing, he blends into the background. To avoid that, you could have also brought a step ladder along to get a little higher and get the trees behind him as well.

I wish I could comment on color confidently, but I can only tell you what I personally see on my screen. I feel like they're a little red or magenta. It's definitely more saturated than the other two images.

#2 - I quite like the angle here! Just be aware of chopping the head. I'm a chronic head chopper, so I understand! It just kind of stops the flow of your eye when you're taking it in. Try to be aware, in camera, of if you have the whole head in there. Or you could go the other way, and make sure the head chop is intentional, cutting more of it off than just a bit. In this case, I wouldn't want to see it any closer, so just back up slightly next time, and that could do the trick :) Focus looks really good here, and love the light you caught in her eyes. I just think it's a little cool. Add a little warmth in there, and print it out and frame it :)

#3 - Great light in his eyes! Awesome eye contact. Again, I think this looks a little cool. I think I would have liked to see you're angle a little higher to get his entire head inside the tree line.

One thing that I think would help you, is if you would back up a little bit more, and get some more of the scene in it. It's something that I've been trying to keep in mind for myself as well. On the ones with the ladder, I'm left wanting to see the ladder. So backing up just a little more could have helped my eye, and stopped me from wondering what they're sitting on. I hope that makes sense.

You did a great job starting us off! I think you have some really nice shots here. I'm being kind of nitpicky, but that's what this is all about. Getting down to the tiny details that can really help you take it to the next level. :)
