Right, I should probably do that. It sure makes me doubt our monitor, though. Crazy that I can't see it at all, yet it's so distinctly clear on the tablet.

I'll take a look on my home monitor too, later. But this work monitor is MUCH MUCH better than my current home one.

I agree with Amy's CC on #1 & 2. I was wondering if the hotspots are a result of your processing? Can we see a SOOC on #1. Did you use a flash? This picture seems very flashy.

I like her dress, she is really sweet.

I didn't notice it too badly until I tilted my screen, Tracy. I think those are lovely shots of Nora. Getting nitpicky, I'd like to see her entire dress in the frame.

Love the berries shots!! I think I like #4 slightly more because of the green and how it makes the purple stand out. Is there a hard edge that you missed with cloning on the bottom?

I missed my day yesterday. I was running around all morning and totally forgot by the time I got back home. Does anyone mind if I go ahead and post a couple?

Steph, I had such a tight space on the shots of Nora that I accidentally clipped her dress and there's only one or two shots I got with the full dress... I tried to mesh the full-dress shots with the good ones, but it didn't work too well. My processing skills aren't that good.

Ah yes, re: #4, Steph... I did miss that. The photo was a bit tilted and I straightened but didn't want to crop much, so I cloned in a bit of the background and missed that edge. Thanks for the catch.

I swear I'm nuts, but you have no idea how bummed out I am about the monitor issue and the thought that the photos look too flashy. I feel like I am never going to be good at portraits, or processing them.

El, I didn't use flash. It's window light, and on a very cloudy day too. Here's a SOOC:

(As you will see from the SOOC of #1, there were more dress issues after she moved around... I lost some ruffle and added it back in. I didn't have to do that for #2, mind you, just for this one.)

I don't think they look too flashy. I see a bit of shadowing the left side of her face. Can you bring down the highlights some? That may help tone down the brightness some. Portraits are hard! Don't be so down on yourself. I think these are very nice! I think that processing is a whole other category to photography. There is SO much that has to be learned. I feel like I've only got it down recently. ILP has some fantastic resources. I'm not sure what all you can access now since I haven't really been back over there since they went the way of charging for access to some boards, but I believe all the tutorials are still free/public. I learned SO much over there, it's unreal.

And, it's not a dealbreaker about the whole dress not being in the frame. You could crop it in closer to make it look more intentional

Here's a super sloppy play, but what I did was brought down the highlights and whites in LR. Then I took the adjustment brush, and overexposed the background only to make it all white and uniform (though it looks sloppy by her body cause I did it quickly).

Then I brought it in PSE, played with levels a bit, added a white color layer at 5% opacity to matte it a bit, then cropped it to 5x7 and cloned a bit of dress in on the left corner that was white.

your sooc is super bright. I think it could be your ISO is so high. Did your fstop up (above the zero)?
Steph's edit toned down the hotspots on her arms and face - much more settle.
