CC - JMK session (pic heavy)

Hi ladies! I tried again to get a picture of my girls together. It is so challenging to get them both to look at the camera and smile. They also came out kind of flat and underexposed. I would love some feedback. I am also new to editing, but I did my best working in PS5 playing around with some actions. Any tips would be great! I want to order some prints for Grandparents. It was in window lighting. Thanks!

Before editing: ISO 1600, f/4, 1/400sec
_MG_8877 (Modified)

Same after the edit in color:

in B&W:

Another one I thought was sweet. ISO 1600, f/5.6, 1/500sec
8904.BW Kloskowski Variations

These are a good first try! I would lower your shutter speed to 250 to let in more light, and consider dropping your ap to just under f/4 as well. What are the girls looking at? Eye contact is key for something like this, so maybe have a favorite stuffed animal "help" by having teddy take the photo or balance on your head. Bribery also works well with my littles. I will give them a mini marshmallow (no stains) and then hold another in my hand and have them look at me and say "PLEASE". click, click, click then give away marshmallow and repeat process until kids are burnt out sticky messes...

Ooh, I like the marshmallow idea! I bet my kids would go for that. I was going to suggest that whatever they are looking at be moved behind you. It looks like someone was trying to entertain them for you to get some smiles? Lots of times my DH will dance around behind me to get my kids laughing but I always have to remind him to get down to my level so they are looking in the direction of the camera!

I think they're really precious! Just the eye contact is lacking, but the edits are great and their expressions are beautiful.

I was actually trying to get their attention with a flashing toy, but obviously had some issues with putting it to far to my left. Smile I LOVE the marshmalow idea...can't wait to try it! Thanks!

They are adorable! I can't really comment on the editing too much because my monitors at work are SOOOO off. But did you do something to the first one around the edges? My eye is drawn towards the upper right corner where it's dark.

I have the SAME problem with getting them to look at the camera. Even if DH is standing behind me, they end up looking just a little too high. Someone had suggested before saying that there was a bug in the lens and having them look for it. LOL, the looks on the girls faces were FUNNY! I may have to give that mini marshmallow trick a try!

I like the mini-marshmallow trick. will remember that next time I have a lo in front of me. I really like the idea of having them say 'please' as well. I usually hold up fingers and ask them to count ... 1 ... 2 ... 3 (snap!)

You're off to a good start. Some of these look a little dark to me, but I'm at work, so take that w/ a grain of salt.

Hope we get to see lots more of your adorable kiddos. Smile

No CC to add, I thought you did a great conversion to B&W.

You're off to a great start. It's so hard to get them to cooperate while trying to perform everything you've just learned...I should post some of mine from the last time I tried. Very comical! My child basically just tried to climb up the backdrop the whole time. Ughhhhh!!
I love the marshmallow idea. In my siggy pic I bribbed with M&M's and he has chocolate drool...marshmallows are definitely a better option!

I agree with the CC. They are really cute and have great catchlights, just could use more light/brightness, and the eye contact. I have the hardest time getting Eva to KEEP looking at the camera long enough, she only jets her eyes forward for like a millisecond at a time LOL

Thanks so much for the feedback. I think I am going to try one more time with this set up again on a sunny day before I order a bunch of prints. I was just excited to have one where they were both tolerant of each other in the pic...usually the baby want to pull her big sister's hair or something like that and I can never get big sister to sit still with baby sister.
