CC Please (JMK) **Added different crop

I love this pic of my youngest, and want to get it blown up big. So, PLEASE, hit me with any nit-picky stuff you've got. I already pulled a lot of red out of her, and if I pull any more, she looks sickly. And yes, she is naturally that white--we're all red heads around here. I cropped the feet off of the chair...does it bug you? If I leave them in, I just feel that the picture is more of the chair than of her, does that make sense? I wanted a closer crop.

Thanks!

it's cute and the leading lines of the railroad looks good to me. but honestly, I'd like it better if she was clothed. she just seems too big for a nakey shot like that. just my personal opinion on that, but something to think about it you're blowing it up big. her skin looks good to me though. Smile I'm not seeing reds in it.

Really? 13 months is too big for a diaper shot? Not trying to start a debate, but does everyone else think this too?

I think it's a beautiful shot. I like the lines of the track. Such a cute grin she has too! And no, I don't think she's tool old for a diaper shot. As long as her private bits are covered (and they are), I don't think that there in a cut-off age for naked. It's beautiful.

well, I can't tell she's wearing a diaper ... but like I said, it was just my personal opinion. there was a whole discussion about the "cut off" age for naked shots on the CM boards, and it really runs across the board (some say 8 months, some say preschool, most say in between). I do love the photograph, but I look at it and feel like she should be wearing a cute sundress instead. but Lisa, it's just my personal opinion. YOU love it and that's what matters. everything about the photograph is lovely, I even like how she's centered.

I'm only asking because I was planning on blowing up large, and if one person is thinking it, maybe several others are too.
She IS wearing a diaper, and I have another one with a decent expression where you can see it. Would that one be better?

Great picture! LOVE it! I am on the fence with the "nakedness" of it. I think it's ok, but DH does not like naked pics so I never really get to take many. I'm actually surprised he was ok with the cake smash, I think the only reason he was ok with it was because I would have gone NUTS if there clothes got dirty!

I love it and would go with it! It's your picture, in your house. And the compositon, and exposure and everything look great! What a neat shot with the fancy chair on the railroad. Cool combination!

ETA:
I always have a hard time with the skin tone on the girls too. They are really pale, especially Addison with the red hair, and it's hard to get a good color. I think you did great!

ADORABLE!!!!

I'd like to see the shot w/out the legs of the chair cut off. It's really nice the way it is, but my eyes keep going in that direction. I'd love to see the original for comparison.

I'm a fan of nakey babies and kids, so I'm not much help there. DH isn't though, so like Tara, I never got many of those shots.

Personally, I'd go w/ what YOU like best. It's your house. If this is your favorite. GO WITH IT. It would be terrible to go big with something, have it hanging on your wall, and then have those pangs of regret every time you looked at it.

YOU need to be happy.

Best,
GiGi

I agree with Gigi on this... something about the crop bothers me. Maybe if you got in even a bit closer so it wasn't just the feet cut off??? I dont know.....

About the nakedness, IMO its adorable, and I never would have thought she looks too young. JMO though.

I can't get over the chair on the railroad tracks. It's just strange to me. Nothing about a lovely chair like that makes sense to me on railroad tracks....just too much.

Personally, I agree about the combination of chair and tracks is odd....I love all the individual components...the chair itself, the background itself, your adorable daughter and her eyes and barrette, her pose, and the PP.....I'm on the fence about the chair & her being centered, because her eyes do fall in the top 3rd. I wish the chair feet were all there too. I would probably love it more as a portrait crop so you see her, the chair, and a bit of trees/sky above her, and not the tracks so much. The BG looks almost like it's green-screened in.

JMO, obviously like everyone else said it's going on YOUR wall and you love it!! Smile

Amy, here's a portrait crop. Is this what you're meaning? You still see the tracks, but they aren't there as much. Also, this shot shows more diaper...
This is just a 5 second edit, so no need to CC color, etc. on this one.

For some reason, I am not liking the pp, looks a bit washed out. Her face is a bit magenta. The chair is nice, not sure about the railroad background.

Nah, I didn't even think about it until it was brought up. But I don't think she's too big for a diaper shot, but I don't know that I really think it all goes together kwim?

Right! First thing I thought! Again, I don't think she's too big to be naked, but to be naked on a fancy chair in the middle of railroad tracks just seems a bit too odd IMO.

Personally, I like the processing because I just really like that kind of look. It is a sweet pic of your little girl though, great expression!

I like the shot, I agree that a portrait crop would be a bit better with this. I also don't really like the feet of the chair being chopped (from the first pic). I think your second pic is better because she seems to be looking into the camera vs up. I'm on the fence about the railroad tacks and chair combo. I love the idea, but just not sure. What about the chair in a weedy field or grassy area with some woods behind? Also, didn't think anything of her being too old for a diaper shot.

I like the shot in general. It is photographed beautifully but I really can't do kids on railroad tracks. It give me nightmares honestly! And I agree the chair doesn't work with the tracks really. It is beautiful and serene and would look lovely in a field of wildflowers but it is in stark contrast with the harshness of the metal railroad tracks. Sometimes that kind of contrast works artistically but IMO, usually it is in work that is trying to make a statement not just be a beautiful portrait, you know.

I agree that I like all the components seperately, but such a beautiful chair on dirty old railway tracks is a little odd to me, however I have seen it done so many times. I think this chair would look lovely in a feild of flowers with her in her diaper (as a mother of a toddler, I have NO issue with naked babies & children so long as privates are covered.)

Then again, like the others have said, it is your baby, your house, so if you want it BIG, totally go for it!
