CC Pls!

Okay, so life has been so busy lately! I finally got around to doing some of Bentley's fall pictures. It was in the evening and the light was fading... I'm not sure if this is good or if theres anything I can do to edit it in photoshop? What do you guys think?

I think that your focus is really good here, and you have such a cute smile! Could he be any more adorable?? He needs to be warmed up quite a bit. Are plays welcome? I can do a quick one for you.

I also kind of feel like the props/background is a little bit too much, but I'm a minimal prop kind of girl. I think that maybe if you had just given him a pumpkin and had one of the bales of straw, that would have put the focus more on him. I feel like all the props are distracting me from looking at that adorable little smile.

Here's my play on it to show you what you could do. It's private on Flickr, but I can take it down if you'd like Smile

I took it into ACR and warmed it up +30. I didn't touch the exposure, because that looked good to me. Then I took it into Photoshop Elements and noticed that it had some cyan in the whites so I did a hue/saturation layer and took down the saturation of the cyan. Then cropped it differently, because he was dead center.

Oh, and I wanted to mention that your lighting is really nice! You have very nice catchlights in his eyes Smile

OMG! It looks so much better! I love it! I'm going to have to beg some information from you!!! What is ACR and what are the steps to remove cyan and adjust the hue/saturation? I have photoshop elements as well and defintely havent figured it all out yet.

I can't thank you enough, it's really so much better and exactly what I was looking for.

I agree with you on the props, I am going to do his shoot over, and will try to limit some.

No problem! I'm glad that you figured it all out Smile Isn't is something how a couple of small adjustments can enhance some photos?

I agree with Steph. She did a great job! You did good though, and sometimes all it takes is a few adjustments!

I agree! Steph your edit looks great. Is the sleeve blown? that would be the only other thing I noticed.

I believe I used the recovery slider and made sure it wasn't highlighted, so it shouldn't be. Of course, I'm always finding that even when I do that, everyone always says it still looks bright/blown. I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong...

I think the play looks a smidge too yellow, but it could be because of the straw and it all being a similar colour, kwim? Anyway, the sleeve is not blown at 255 but I did get a 251 so is running very hot, try and keep it below 245 for print.
